I'd call it genre blurring. I wouldn't call it "prog" per se, however it seems progressive in the sense that it is taking music to different places. Its not bad. Pretty interesting stuff.

Yeah, I had to laugh at that. I was going to start a new thread that said "Asia is not Prog" , but I just didn't have the heart. (of the sunrise)
Got it.
why bother reading it then ?
Not my labels, I got them from other threads on this very site.
Sure I do. Its all good. I thought you were making a joke. The old "what is prog" and how to define it routine. But I mostly agree that Pop music is simply what is popular (at the moment), and what...
Someone needs his nap.
I don't get it.
You sir are a genius.
If it did, then there is no distinction between say Gentle Giant and the Bay City Rollers. Not in my universe.
I have only heard of Yes being referred to as Prog, never prog Pop.
Nope. I'm not buying it. What music is not accessible ?
Don't try your jedi mind tricks on me.
Every day is a Camel day.
To my mind these are mutually exclusive terms. It is either Prog or pop. Same goes for Prog/metal. To my ears Prog/metal is metal.
O.k. have at it.
P.s. Don't even get me started about Prog/Hip...
Ah, that's what it is.... Finally, I've been wondering how it could disappear so quickly. Is that why they drill holes thru the bar codes ? I've noticed that a lot of the Genesis box sets that are...
Yes you're correct
I can't seem to find it anywhere. Also Abacab is hard to find on its own. Whats the deal ?
that soon ?
I'm interested in the stuff that we don't know about, like that bonus track that came with the So boxed set.
Personally I would like to see some live material from his first and second tours.
I'm thinking along the lines of the Genesis boxed set, lots of un-released tracks, b-sides, live, etc. I've collected a lot of his cd singles and know there is a lot of material out there for him to...
I didn't realize it was a one shot deal.
I've been looking for this box set and it seems like its out of print, the copies I have seen go for $400. Whats uh the deal ?
Is it out of print ?
Thanks Sordel, that exactly what I was hoping for. I can't wait. I've been listening to BBT almost exclusively lately. I have both English Electric cd's , and love them, but I'm already thinking of...
Is Station Masters a re-working of there earlier cd's, or is it just a re-mastering of the earlier cd's ? Specifically, is David Longdon going to re-do the vocal parts ?
I love GG, but most of the bootleg stuff I've heard is pretty sketchy. I'm interested in the box set, but I'd like to know what the sound quality is. Considering most of the stuff they had was...
They were playing the same songs for a while, I think I remember Gary Green saying they were going to mix it up some, just wondered what they are playing these days.
I'm very curious to hear how BBT translates live. I think the vocals would be difficult to do live, night after night.
I wasn't trying to be defensive. It probably sounds that way though. And yes, that speed metal crack was a bit of a jab, but is BBT really boring or syrupy ? Yeah I account for the fact that everyone...
I don't really understand the negativity. As I said before, Saying they are the greatest band was a bit of a ruse just to get the talk started, but I've been a little disappointed with some of the...
It can be hard to talk about new albums when there is a constant barrage of re-mastered cd's hitting the stores. For example, I've been listening to the re-mastered King Crimson cd's and they sound...
Ouch, but I agree
The Permanent Wave About 5:45 mark.
Its funny, but somehow I associate pastoral with Camel, mostly because of Down on the Farm I suppose.
True. Its more about the lyrical texture I suppose. And maybe something to do with the fact that most of the songs don't have a hard edge to them.
just like Camel
I think the comparison for me is in the lyrics, the tasty lead guitar solos, and the sweet vocals, and maybe the fact that every song is brilliant.
Well Camel is the greatest by such large margin, that its not really fair to include them, so in all fairness, by removing them from consideration, that leaves BBT as the greatest band of all...
I got exactly what I expected I'd get, and I enjoyed every bit of it. I love prog fans because they are so opinionated (that's what makes it fun throw out such an inflammatory statement.) I love the...
camel
You'll like it.
I knew it needed something...
Wow, that's really great news. How did you come by it ? It doesn't matter, just curious. I probably don't need to say it, but I hope they have some nice HD cameras on hand to record it.
That is the correct answer. And well stated. I particularly liked "they write the deepest, most realistic, and beautifully-direct lyrics and play in the most economical yet complex style, always...
This could be the greatest zinger in prog rock forum history.
That's outrageous....and thanks for playing.
I am putting on my black-jeweled battle shorts as we speak.
Well done sir, well done.
Boooo (but I laughed anyways)
I just gave them a little listen...and they may be the second greatest prog band ever.
Yes it is, however the correct answer is, yes.
The answer is most probably, that it is. I've been blown away by the last four cd's. To my mind they represent the best of both Genesis and Camel. BBT, like Camel, never has a bad song. Listening to...
A nice legacy though, I see that artwork a lot, whenever prog or KC is mentioned. Indeed, a sad story.
Whats the story about Cover art for Crimson King ?
Have I noticed correctly ? The re-mastered cd doesn't include any bonus tracks, or the three singles that came out on cd single ? That's lame.
That's what I love about PE. You have the disks right in front of you. I was really wondering about the sound quality of that early tour, and you confirmed my suspicions. Thanks.
#9 has the songs I want
Cool. These are the King Crimson collectors club. Which of those three do you suggest I start with ?
The First Box set and Genesis Live are probably the best early live stuff. I'd steer clear of that particular cd. I've seen it too on itunes, and it seems a little sketchy, at first I thought it was...
Wondering whats out there from 1970-72 version of the band. I know there's some pretty bad sounding stuff, but maybe there are some nice sounding sound boards.
