That's good to know, thanks!
Cool! Del has the classic bluegrass looks too with that big pompadour! I could go for a good bluegrass show right now!
Anybody have the Columbia box set? I'm not sure if the remastering is the same as some of the individual re-issues but I read that some of the albums were improved quite a bit including On Your Feet...
Trilok Gurtu: Usfret
Focus: Hamburger Concerto
BOC: Tyranny and Mutation
Dafnis Prieto Big Band: Back To Sunset
Pianist Maurizio Pollini passed today at age 82. I'm remembering him while listening to the Luigi Nono album he recorded with Claudio Abbado in 1970.

I read about this earlier today. That's tragic. I have many albums featuring his excellent playing.
The only Dolphy CD I was missing. Found it at my local store last week.
Stick Men: Soup
Dave Holland Quintet: Not For Nothin'
Ravi Coltrane: Spirit Fiction
Some great stories from Michael McDonald. And such a nice touch at the end with that performance!
London Brew
Eric Dolphy: Outward Bound
Bruce Cockburn: Big Circumstance
Andrew Hill: Eternal Spirit
Cool tune, which I haven't heard before because I don't have the first album. Thanks! Those first three 10-12 minute tunes from High Street is some of my favorite HOG music. Really great compositions...
I just listened to it twice through and it's really good. I'll probably grab the CD from my local store sometime this week.
Love that one! Ben is such a brilliant musician but he keeps such a low profile that he's not very well known.
I picked up a couple used CDs.
Stick Men - Soup
London Brew
Eric Dolphy -...
Listening to the new album from Julian Lage. It's pretty mellow with a good dose of acoustic playing and bit of a country vibe a la Bill Frisell....
Andrew Hill: Black Fire
Andrew Hill: Judgement
Muriel Grossman: Devotion
Led Zeppelin II
Marco Minnemann: EEPS
Mingus: Changes Two
A rather disappointing interview focused on old band stories with a hyper talkative rock star. I wouldn't want to see Copeland and David Lee Roth in the same room. Bring on the George Benson...

Mingus Big Band: Blues & Politics
Jack DeJohnette: Music For The Fifth World
I picked up two CDs on Naim Records. Both excellent, but I really like La Saboteuse.
I haven't been into fusion that much in recent years but Scott Henderson's new album, Karneval!, features some...
I recommend bassist Michael Formanek's Elusion Quartet for some cutting edge modern jazz. They have two studio releases. I'm partial to the first album, Time Like This. They offer downloads only at...
All that slap and funk stuff is nice but when she started playing that beautiful chordal stuff my ears perked up.
Will give this a listen tonight. Steve, and Vinnie are two of my favorite musicians to listen to expound on music and life. Greg Bendian did a great interview with Vinnie last week.
Cecil Taylor: Trance
Mingus Big Band: Gunslinging Birds
Antonio Sanchez: Migration
Tallis Scholars: A Tudor Collection
Allan Holdsworth: Metal Fatigue
Allan Holdsworth: I.O.U.
Mingus Big Band 93: Nostalgia In Time Square
Scott is getting better all the time. His latest three albums are superb! So far my favorite tune from the new album is Haunted Ballroom. The rhythm section really swings! Scott's lead playing is...
He is a great talent! I saw him with Pat Metheny, and I picked up both of his Blue Note CDs.
I love the first tune. That guitar sound is fantastic! And the the vocals too.
Not to be nitpicky but his name is Gerard Schwarz.
Agreed! I'm a big fan of M8 so I've collected quite a few. I bought my wife the Ozawa Philips box and was delighted to find that it included a complete Mahler cycle.
Schwarz did some great work in Seattle. I have some of his recordings. While not a huge Ozawa fan, I've always admired the man. He recorded a decent Mahler cycle and some good Bartók and Stravinsky....
Edgar Meyer: Uncommon Ritual
Bruckner No.3: Gunter Wand / Kolner
I love me some Circuits trio. The drums and keyboards are killer!
I have the Philips box. It has his recording of C. for O. and Music for Strings.
I saw a short of him interviewing Brad Mehldau so I'm assuming that'll be the next one. He said he had five interviews in the can before he uploaded the Omartian.
Seiji Ozawa dead at 88.

Ok, Holmboy
I just got the Naxos recording by the Nashville Symphony, and Chicago Symphony Chorus. Great sonics on this one!

Great sounding tune! I picked up his last two CDs so I'll probably get this one from Scott when he returns from Europe.
I'd have to listen for weeks just to remember some of the melodies in my head, much less play the stuff. As it stands, the parts I can hear in my head are the opening prelude, and part 6, which is...

Great old video from the mid 80s. 1:24 minutes. Starts off with Chick practicing the Goldberg Variations. Also includes a trio with John...
After listening to Book 1 by Richter, I don't think I need to get a newer version. For some reason the first piece sounds a little fuzzy but after that the recordings sounds great. I agree that all...
Any particular parts? I'm listening to my Richter set today. P & F No. 21 playing at the moment.
I should probably pick up a modern recording. I have Gould, and Richter. I also have a good sounding harpsichord version on Naxos.
I just got a copy of the Goldberg Variations by Beatrice Rana. A lot of music to absorb but I can see myself listening to this CD many times.
It's not a piece of music by Ravel. It's simply French for Ravel, that's life. See Chalkpie's post above.
I have the old 80s CD and it sounds superb! I hadn't listened to it in 30 years.
I have a recording in the Ravel Edition. I have the box sitting next to me so I need to start going through it again. I listened to my Martinon set last week.
