A very good one IMO. I've always heard it as a coda to the folk-prog trilogy and think it works very well in that way.
I hope Wilson's editions go this far.

Hope he pulls through. 'Southern Accents' is a great song and a great album.
Not trying to be controversial here - a genuine question: who is in the band on this releae?
A wonderful ear for quality pop and a great heart.
As well as the HD stuff I really liked his album based on Paradise Lost.
Rest in peace Grant.
While he didn't do the scoring Ian Underwood worked closely with James Horner on a number of soundtracks inclusing The New World (lovely) and A Beuatiful Mind.
Thanks for so much Walter.
Rest in peace.
Marillion's Holidays in Eden. Vocally Hogarth spends the whole time channelling Sting and Bono.
I posted a thread in respect for fallen ANZAC soldiers once - the idiot decided to sneer at that too. "Ignore" is your friend.
Interesting. Can you link to some of this evidence?
Goldstein.
Goldstein?
Uh-oh! Est-il juif?
Quite a number of the 'apocalyptic folk' performers from the UK - most notoriously Douglas P from Death in June and Michael Wakefield from Sol Invictus - have played with Nazi imagery and attitudes,...
Yeah, although Kate always wrote using different personae whereas Roy was generally just Roy.
But few as seriously corrupt as this from Roy Harper:
Baby, won't you play with me ?
Games that no one else can see ?
Leanin' over out my window
Flashing me your mini flower show
Steal away...
Damn. May he be at peace with Duane.
The most important post in this thread! Thanks - Fish now has even more of my money :)
Five years ago I'd have never admitted publicly to loving this. But as the Laureate said, 'I was so much older then (I'm younger than that now)':

Taking my cue from the above, this is far better than the original IMO

I think Lindsey's a genuine hero. Here's my pick from his solo stuff:

Listen particularly from 1:50. Lyrics and music are astounding.
For me...

For me the definitve versions of "Supper's Ready" and "The Cinema Show" are on this. Which means it's absolutely essential.
Indeed - a great album and some of Ian's best ever lyrics.
I'm on this bus up to and including "A" (if it happens).
I would have preferred a box of Revolver - it's a better album.
Still, I'm up for the Pepper.
Regular Oils groupie here.
Trivia note: "10, 9, 8..." was a title that was also a pun. There was a pretty conservative pop music show that dominated Oz in the late 70s-mid 80s that the Oils always...
The only biopic I've ever seen about a real musician that I thought was any good at all was "Walk the Line".
David Essex did a good job in the excellent "That'll Be the Day" and it's fine sequel...
Look to the Rainbow is a gorgeous piece of work and one of my favourite live albums.
RIP
Impossible to go past this:

Not claiming this as best, and I don't have a favourite, but this might interest people. The whole album is pretty remarkable.

Completely agree with "Comin Back to Me" as the pick of this excellent album. It was the first time I'd heard a shakuhachi and for that alone it's significant personally. dd to that a haunting,...
Thank you John. Rest now.
The 2 CD version of Marillion's Marbles
For me that's never been the case. I think that if someone needs music to be translated into a completely different medium in order to 'get' it, the music's not for them. It hasn't communicated on...
I don't understand these threads. If you actually need someone to explain why music by pretty straightforward performers like Van, Joni or Neil is great then it's not for you. Move on.
For the first 100 only. I have no idea if that constitutes a large number or not in terms of likely sales.
I wish they'd give Ever some sort of special treatment. IMO it's their best (with The Wake a close second).
I too have owned this since it was released. A worthy follow-up to Cantus Firmus - which is very high praise because I think CF is the best US prog album not called "Happy the Man" or "Crafty Hands"....
"Epic"? 😐
Sad.
Very sad news.
In answer to an earlier question, I don't think he ever matched the quality of WD. "Shardik" is ambitious but too long and "The Girl In the Swing" is good but a little neat and...
Loved the Wham singles - pretty much perfect pop IMO. HIS AOR stufff was not that interestung to me, but he does a good job on this classic (with some help from the Master):

Does it matter? Will this change how you enjoy the music?
Is the Hall of Fame something of any substance? Do people sit around thinking "Gee, this is a band I've never bothered with but now they...
Sanguine Hum
A band that never lived up to their potential IMO.
BUT "Veil of Gossamer" is a bloody masterpiece.
Agreed - it's a great album Pity they didn't spend more than 35 cents on the cover design, however.
Isn't it great?
Thank you Greg.
Favourite vocal performances?
Hard to look past "Pirates", but a close second wuld be "Closer to Believing".
It's still a lot of work - particularly if you are entering a lot of classical boxes. But it's always possible to save drafts so it can be done over a few days.
Also, let's face it: the site...
Neither of these would make my top 15 by Bob, but both are solid. Great final tracks on each.
What happened to Peter G? Has he changed his name again?
His debut album is superb.
Very much my experience as well. Personally I have no problem with an insistence on documented verification. A database that will attribute vinyl transfer status on the basis of what someone says...
Not to defend Davis, but I think those of us disatisfied with his work have to resign ourselves to the fact that this is the way B, R and C want their music heard.
They could afford anyone to do...
Not to forget two of his best lines:
Voices echo, this is what salvation must be like after a while
And
Mona Lisa must 'a had yhe highway blues, you can tell by the way she smiles.
Line...
Great piece.
Troll.
Nonsense. The decision is the equivalent of a small suburban paper giving a "person of the year" award to a national or international figure. "Normal" behaviour (since you have apparently decided you...
So Dylan gets a well-deserved award and the committee is affronted that he doesn't kiss their collective arse?
How puffed up these Eurocrats are!
Absolutely - I am much more into classical and 19th/early 20th Century these days than ever before.
Much more into early jazz (Louis, Jelly Roll, King Oliver).
That said, I still despise...
Excluding live albums,
