Strange Magic - ELO
On drums (per ad)…Alan White.
Who is first to go, Harden or Brown?
“See what I mean…Rick always used 2 hands!”
If you order the CD on Amazon, don’t you also get the mp3 download or is it too low res?
This band is as tight as a (Bruford) drum. Jon sounds excellent as always, lots of echo and some mix issues, but fantastic renditions and song choices.
And this is from THEIR FIRST SHOW!
Impressive list! Missing a few prog gods though…
Officiating in Creighton/SD State reminded me of the Super Bowl.
Have you not heard Equinox? Best Styx album imo.
Back to Yes, find it interesting that the slowing down and lack of tightness are sort of the elephant in the room..was it Howe, Squire, White,...
This is quite impressively played

Schellen’s drumming seemed off in the few YouTube clips from this year, I was hoping for more fire with him but I guess the powers that be feel otherwise.
I wanted to like this album a lot more than I did, mainly due to the greatness of the albums that preceded it.
Plus he is charming and affable, this ended when he rejoined Yes.
What was pretty baked up….the vinyl or you?
He got more than 22,000 days. RIP Graeme.
RIP Graeme. The Long Distance Voyager show was one of my favorite concerts. Loved those spoken parts, they added a level of mystique and intellect to the proceedings….
It didn’t affect the Stones much.
I was at a wedding of my wife’s co-worker and the 3 piece band played I Talk To The Wind. It sounded great and I enjoyed it immensely, it was at an outdoor farm in Western N.J. on a beautiful fall...
Looks great! I noted Lamar Williams Jr. on the bill…..amazing how many performing offspring this group has had.
Agree 110%. When I first saw it I thought those guys on the cover were Genesis.
Hipgnosis (which also designed The Lamb cover if I am not mistaken) has had as many, if not more, misses than hits....
Wow, would never have made that connection!
RIP, one of South Philly’s finest musicians.
2 of them leave Tales out of their top 10. Attention span?
3 years is a long career?
Didn’t Bruford mean No Opportunity Necessary, the Havens cover? And of course Squire quotes from West Side Story in America.
Howe sounds much more full bodied than he has recently, as noted above, more like he does on the last 3 Asia sets. I also like the busy bass line and Downes shines on this track. And here’s to Alan,...
Fantastic and underrated, and seemed like a great cohesive gel for all the fantastic soloing around him…RIP.
Bill Nelson
Peter Frampton
John McLaughlin
Eric Clapton
Steve Howe
Stephen Stills
Allan Holdsworth
Carlos Santana
Dave Mason
Neil Schon
Styx- Put Me On.
Lots of hard to find stuff here, but used records and CDs were pricy (IMO).
I remember when it was in Irvington, NJ in a hole in the wall on Springfield Ave. Nothing like the Fords site which you...
What a difference a week makes.
Go Alphonse!
Just saw her on a rerun of Botched, where she was trying to get a botched boob job reduced to pre implant size. She seemed like a nice person who was finally at peace with herself. That is way too...
Todd Sucherman is a great drummer.
Does he own every metal/prog/rock CD ever released? Sure seems like it!
Yes, he did. I was curious who plays what on each track. Clempson and of course Sancious were on the US tour. One of the most amazing shows I ever saw.
But the earlier UK lineup was quite a bit...
Do we actually know who played on which track? I thought Stefano Cerri (and Guy Schiffman) were only on the tour.
I would love to know why there was such a delay between 90125 and BG. Seems like one of the biggest fails in Yes’ history, and there have been a few.
I never knew Steve Gadd was the initial choice to drum in the quartet RTF, not Lenny White.
Here he is in 1969 with Miles:

RIP. It is such a big loss and his influence was enormous.....saw him twice, once with the Elektric Band in the mid 80s, opening that show was Allan Holdsworth whose Metal Fatigue had just come...
Totally disproven this season.
Liking what I hear, wish I knew all the artists....
I got Jon to sign this and CTTE at a record store promotion in 1981 outside of Philadelphia and he was most gracious. Also my favorite solo record of his.
Yes, I realize Moraz is a stretch, yet I wish he would get a shot, much like I would have liked Banks in Union.
That being said, I would more realistically suggest Wakeman and Stolt.
Wow Steve Walsh and Cheap Trick, now that is interesting!
This could be an interesting alternative to ARW:
Jon
Rayford Griffin
Tony Levin
Patrick Moraz
Jimmy Haun
Thank you once again, an interesting listen, even if I don’t quite agree with him about the current Yes.
Entwistle's voice going downhill, Townshend not in great form, Kenny Jones on drums, not a favorite period of The Who. Would much rather see a ‘73 tour....backing tape issues and all...
Totally agree with YIND, not so sure I may not have preferred Fragile with HOTS opening.
Food for thought...if CDs were around in 1974, perhaps some 3 song albums may have been programmed...
Thank you again for this opportunity......
Did he like working In The Round?
How complete was Awaken when he rejoined?
Would he have liked working with Moraz in Union?
How did he select which...
Sean, thank you for creating such a well done interview with great rapport....it was a great listen and thoroughly enjoyed!
I’d like to know what his take is on the future Yes drummer touring/studio situation? What was the reason for adding the audience applause on the live albums he was involved with? Has there been any...
At least they got its place right on Yessongs/Progeny!
Kansas City, Nebraska.......interesting!
Great story, I bet members of Yes would love hearing it....ah, the power of music!
^^Too funny, George would have made a great wizard!
The poor guy fought so hard from everything and seemed to be on a rebirth as a new group of folks discovered him. I was certainly pulling for him. RIP John.
RIP, he and his sons contributed a lot to jazz and classical music.
