I’m a big fan of Perfect Beings, especially their final album “Vier,” a rare long-form double album that holds my interest throughout.

ELPowell was a really solid album IMO, especially considering the other prog reunions/supergroups of the time (Asia, GTR, 3, etc), and has also aged the best. Will likely pick up this box set.
I always welcome a new Frost* album, Day and Age was not my favorite but I respect that they were trying something different, and I like it well enough.

Would love this on CD.

Episode 83 of "The Albums I Have Missed," Vaylor Trucks takes on the monster that is Godley and Creme's "Consequences" from 1977. Aside from my stiff presentation it is a good show!

Allan Holdsworth - Metal Fatigue
Lyle Mays - Street Dreams
Tim Bowness - Butterfly Mind
Alan Parsons Project - Pyramid
The-Quartet - Illuminated
Stereolab, especially Dots and Loops

I’ll be watching this thread with interest. Ween is one of my daughter’s favorite bands, but I haven’t explored much of their catalog.

That’s a band name if I’ve ever heard one.

I wonder if Godley and Creme have ever done any Gizmotron recording on acoustic guitar?

Great example, one of my go-to MK discs!

I’ve got your back, always loved the song!

Big Chair through Tipping Point in my opinion is peerless, what an amazing run of albums.
That’s the only boot I have on vinyl, good show.

Serious lack of Moog solos on Face Value.

Just came back from a library “book” sale and walked out with a stack of $2 CDs [emoji106]

This reminds me of what an AI might come up with if you asked it to write a song and lyrics in the style of Yes. I though the bass playing was a highlight, though.
That was a great season, and nice to see the Fripp trilogy tackled. The suggestion of a playlist that sorts Sacred Songs/Scratch/Exposure in chronological recording order would be a fascinating...
See, Mike is just like us, getting tipsy and posting to PE (hee hee!)

Love to hear his take on 10cc if he’s not already familiar with them.

Truly one of my heroes. RIP.

I have the same issue, but don’t feel too bad about it since the purchases support artists and/or independent music dealers.

I highly recommend the podcast. Host Kevin Mulryne often will say that Tormato is his favorite Yes album.

I haven’t missed a Martin Barre Band show but I’ve passed on the last 5 years of Tull gigs.

I can't remember exactly how I heard of Camel, but I ended buying a used copy of Rain Dances late 80's/early 90's. Didn't really start listening again until maybe 10-15 years ago, but man, that album...
My favorite Yardbird by far. Saw him on the Guitar Shop tour.
RIP
Arborescence is the one that pulled me in. You could almost pick any starting point, though.

I get the impression that Patrick might be hard to work with. See also “Eddie Jobson.”

That’s a fun idea!

The Southern Empire track was killer, kind of like The Flower Kings meets Frost to me. I’ll be seeking out their album!

I’ll be the guy who says I love what Rob Townsend brings to the Hackett arrangements of Genesis tunes, in the same way I like what Mel Collins adds to latter day Crimso. Of course this may be because...
Gonna order this tomorrow on Bandcamp Friday!

That Gino Vanelli track slams!

Absolutely. Great band, full of energy, fun arrangements and lots of joking from Martin. I’ve seen them four times now, and have stopped seeing JT “proper” (whatever that means).

Thanks for the heads-up, pre-ordered!
Ok, now they’re playing Closer to the Heart.

^That medley kicks all sorts of ass.
Great show, I ended up buying the Octarine Sky album, and Simon Phillips “Protocol V” while I was at it. Both excellent!

Listened to ToTO through Big Generator today and then finished up with the remarkable Levin Torn White. Quite a body of work there.

Agreed, but it's not quite apples and oranges. Steve is not saying that he IS Genesis, so he can put his bands together at will, and he has put together a fantastic band that does great justice to...
Any impressions of this album? I'm finding it stunningly great. Not an easy-listening jazz album, rather experimental in places. He does a lot of rearrangement of the "covers", very modern and...
Agreed, go see Martin's show, better band for years now and you get to see it in more intimate theaters. I paid $60 for a front row seat in Natick, MA and it was astounding.
Big Chair through TTP is an incredible run IMO (and I include Tomcats in that list). I think Roland is a genius, but I've also been very impressed with Curt's work on the new album. I really hope...
I don’t think I can get past the “detachment” of the band on this album, which is similar to TAAB2 and HE. Maybe it’s the production style or result of remote recording, but it sounds assembled...
I'm kind of done with larger shows, price, inconvenience, crowd behavior (talking, standing, cell phone videos, etc.) and a slight bit of COVID-induced agoraphobia among the reasons. I get much more...

^Awesome, he sounds great! I'd pay good money to see him do the whole album.
I agree about ELAHE. It's interesting to me that this new album seems to be getting a bigger marketing push than ELAHE did.
Good point. In many ways I see SD as a companion album to Duke.
Listened to Smallcreep's today, followed by Acting Very Strange, two very different albums for sure. AVS is a straight-ahead rock album with some new wave elements, it's more OK than I think...
Just played Court and will follow up with McDonald & Giles.
Yes, Braide/Downes is a great outlet for Downe's approach. It references the Buggles but also sounds timeless in a way that Asia doesn't. Maybe that's intentional, the 80's sound clearly has its fans.
I hadn't heard any of the Payne-era albums before, so yesterday I listened to all of them in order (playing VdGG today as a palette cleanser :D). Overall impressions:
-This is all in the AOR/MOR...
Yes, one day at a time :D
I think I went for the 1-disc initially after being kind of underwhelmed by the few albums before it. Radiation, marillion.com and Anoraknophobia are not bad, but I could...
Can someone recommend a show from the 1976 tour where you can clearly hear Bruford's contributions? I've heard In Concert and Cinema Show from Seconds Out, but would love audio from an entire concert.
You're right about that. I had the 1-CD version for years, and only heard Ocean Cloud a few years ago. Went out and bought the 2-disc after that.
The song has exactly 8 good ideas in it :p
Seriously tho, I hear a lot of sound references to pop/indie music from 20 years ago, I wouldn't compare it to any current pop music (of which I don't...
