Roaring silence

Kindness of Strangers is my favourite album of theirs with the CSN-like June being the best track - which leads to the recent Morse D'Virgilio Jennings albums. Snow is my least fav. I really like...
Steve Harley of Cockney Rebel RIP
Eric Carmen and Karl Wallinger - a sad day.
I got most right, would have got more given time, but didn't know who did the SEBTP cover.
Also on bandcamp
Kingdom of Madness was a great debut. Saw them at Dingwalls in Hull in late 70s. RIP
Sad news - their debut Kingdom of Madness in 1978 was a great album.
57 concerts!!
I managed 4 with the wife:
Peter Gabriel
Regenesis
Russ Ballard
Dexy's Midnight Runners (her choice!).
I see that for something like Nude there are remastered and remixed versions of every track. Is theer any appreciable difference between the two? Is either any better than the Esoteric reisisues?
I like all the above and saw many of them at The Marquee in the early 80s. Saw Pallas a couple of time around Arrive Alive when lead singer Euan was wearing the old man mask - if that wasn't...
Ok thanks - got a lot off there over the years and never a problem with viruses, although the racist, sexist etc comments were a turn-off. What other sites are good and safe?
Has it closed?
Not sure I've ever listed to the whole of WCD (or 'We Can't Write decent songs anymore') without dozing off. Much prefer CAS (apart from the fade-outs).
Another of the great bassists has sadly left us. RIP
Games without frontiers.
Disappointed there's no Flood or Snapshot but I suppose he's done those for so long. Will certainly be interesting.
He was one of those musicians who if you saw his name in the credits for an album you knew it was worth getting.
A Longer April is my fav Brand X track,
Not sure I knew that he had died. All so tragic.
Fantastic bass player - a great loss.
This would be my choice plus Brand X A Longer April
Tha's OK - I was just thinking who owns the rights to all these as the listing of those look like the Esoteric releases.
Esoteric did Breathless, I can see your house, Stationary Traveller, Nude and single factor - I know because I submitted some live photos I'd taken for one of them though they weren't used but I did...
Obviously the band themselves put out their last few albums. Esoteric did the reissues so are they involved with this?
Also co-wrote Bucks Fizz hits Run for your Life and If you can't stand the heat (and played with them).
Ian Bairnson (Alan Parsons, Kate Bush, Pilot) has died aged 69. RIP.
My least favourite PG album by a long way.
Got this for my birthday last week. Superb album - really beautiful. Recommend it to all. Everyone should have a copy.
Skytrails.
RIP - still making great music til near the end. Some great albums as CPR some time ago too with his son.
Similar position - probably got a recording from each tour as I would imagine have most fans that this would be aimed at.
On the poppier side - Duran Duran's 'You're about as easy as a nuclear war' and ABC's 'Can't complain, mustn't grumble, help yourself to another piece of apple crumble'.
Never a fan of The Specials but Fun Boy 3 were really good and their The Waiting album is excellent. RIP
Paul Weller's Style Council's Walls Come Tumbling Down:
"Until the unity is threatened by
Those who have and who have not
Those who are with and those who are without
And dangle jobs like a...
Masterpiece.
My favourite ELO by far. Superb album. Shame there hasn't been a proper extended version
BBC4 are showing 40 mins of the concert in an Old Grey Whistle test repeat on Friday at 10pm.
My least favourite Genesis albums. Not sure I've ever made it through WCD without dozing off!
Great band.
Tunnel of Love
Romeo and Juliet
Private Investigations
(I also agree about the Tull tracks - SO Dire Straits).
Just been announced. RIP
I don't know how you can rank 180 songs, as shown by the fact that they've lumped a lot of songs from the same album togther. I'd have difficulty just ranking the songs on one of their albums - it's...
Barclay James Harvest did a song called Kiev - although it was because of Chernobyl the message is similar.
Depths of Winter has some really good stuff on it but for me the drums are a put-off as they sound very computerised.
Saw an ad for it on the side of a London bus today.
I wanted to go for the 3 for £3 offer but you had to pay by direct debit which I didn't fancy doing.
The Stranglers version of Walk On By is a classic.
My first concert was Procol at Hull City Hall in '77 on the Something Magic Tour. RIP
Wine Dark Sea by Stephen Caudel.
Adams was with Bardens in short-lived band Mirage with some Caravan members.
Have most of her albums but not Lady Macbeth as they were getting too heavy for me. This sounds promising. Would love Rocket Scientists to release more.
RIP. BOOH is one of the greatest albums of all time. We're going to see BOOH The Musical next week for the 4th time!
I remember the day well. It rained so hard and it took about 3 hours to get out of the car park (ie field) afterwards with me having to be pushed by one of my party as the wheels were just spinning....
Yes it was - nothing wrong with a bit of whimsy!
I like that track. Reminds me of the track on Nod and a Wink (can't remember the title).
I like them all except Abacab, Invisible Touch & We Can't Dance. In fact they're probably my least favourite 3 Genesis albums.
UK singer/songwriter John Miles had died aged 72. Saw him in concert on the MMPH tour in about '78. Great underrated artist.
Just noticed on my Ticketmaster newsletter that Camel are doing a 50th anniversary tour in the UK June 2023. All we need now is a new album!
(edited as I misread the date)
Been a fan since the beginning. dreadful news. RIP
