Tremendously disappointed in that setlist...seriously, not a single song from Talk? No "Shoot High, Aim Low"? I seriously hope they're going to pull out some deeper Rabin-era cuts later on, because...
That's very kind of you! :)
I really hope this album takes off - I think it could be monumental if people really give it a close listen.
Here's my take on it: http://oryoucouldlove.blogspot.com/2016/09/first-impressions-fk-everyone-and-run-f.html
I really, really, REALLY like this album. I know I spend a lot of time in that review...
Did you get a confirmation email or did you have to ask PledgeMusic about it yourself? I ordered the Ultimate Edition, and I'm getting worried that mine hasn't shipped yet.
So, it gets a little complicated, but I've found the best way to do this involves two programs: MakeMKV and WinFF. The former allows you to rip the Blu-Ray into .mkv files, and the latter allows you...
I think those are the deluxe, not the ultimate. There's a picture on Steve Rothery's Facebook page of Mark signing a few.
It's almost like those of us who pre-ordered the set knew that it might take a while, and it's almost like every delay has been explained.
Look, the process hasn't been perfect by any means - I...
Nah, man, it's okay - some of us under 25 pay a hell of a lot more than that to go hang out and play with our heroes on a cruise three times in a row.
Seriously, I don't want to lord that over...
Oh, I like Signals, don't get me wrong. I just wanted to rile up the people who don't like synth Rush. ;)
As for FEAR, I'm very, VERY excited. I've listened to "The New Kings" an uncountable...
You're right.
...all their GREAT stuff is post-Signals.
Lucy has said that even though the songs are subdivided, there'll only be 5 separate tracks on the CD.
I think I once heard someone describe the second disc of this album as "acoustic trance music," and that's probably about right. It's certainly just as groove-based.
So back when this was first announced, Eddie offered a "musician" level set with the box and a book of his personal UK transcriptions for $125. As a keyboard player, I think I'm getting a fantastic...
Everyone here could do worse than to give Zebra's first album a careful listen - some stunning melodies on that record.
If you're looking for one song in particular, "The La La Song" may be the...
Journey's big single with Steve Augeri is one of the high points in their catalog, if you ask me.

Serious as a heart attack.
...Well, ok, maybe not THAT serious. But "...Baby One More Time" and "Toxic" are genuine classics, and I have a soft spot for "Oops! I Did it Again" and "Lucky."
There are at least...3? 4? stone-cold pop classics that Britney sang lead for.
Yes, I listen to lots of pop - early stuff, '60s stuff, Disco, synthpop, contemporary stuff like Taylor Swift - and, often, I enjoy it a lot more than I do some prog. I'm a sucker for melodies,...
Fool me once, Hall of Fame...I thought for sure this would be the year. Ah, well. Good that Chicago and Deep Purple are finally in.
There's a reply to a comment on this video from Jon's stepson. I won't share it in its entirety here, but you can find it towards the bottom of the page.

From what I gather, and bear in mind this is secondhand info, Jon's original demos for H&E were stripped down and made much less interesting by some of the older band members.
The new CHVRCHES album is actually my favorite of the ones I've bought this year...Maybe I'm on the wrong forum. :)
But I'll give a nod to a few prog ones that haven't been mentioned yet: the...
Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if Howe tried making the case for Banks's induction -- he spoke very highly of him at length, almost out of the blue, during the Q&A session on the cruise.
I know that even bigger bands like Marillion have had trouble touring America in the past. Apparently, in addition to the prospect being very expensive, there's just an excessive amount of...
Here's one of the videos I recorded. "Make it Easy" is taking its sweet time to upload, but I'll post that one as soon as it's done processing if people would like to see it!
...
Aw, shucks. I'll be interested to see how much longer this thread lasts before it's nuked, but I appreciate the kind words nonetheless. I won't rehash the same argument here, for obvious reasons, but...
I don't agree with this, and I think it's an unfair representation of my points, which only ONE member has been even remotely considerate enough to discuss rather than simply caricaturing. So thanks...

I took this a few days ago at the second Marillion show on Cruise to the Edge. It hasn't been corrected yet, and it's a tad blurry, but I don't think anyone else captured this shot -- which I...
Yes, all of this makes sense. And I realize I should have clarified that I didn't mean my comment to be about Robert Fripp in particular -- I think his request is slightly unreasonable, personally,...
Jesus, this thread's a bit miserable, innit?
Happy to hear that I've wasted every concert I've ever been to because I may have taken a picture or a video. I'm amazed at how stuck-up and elitist...
Yeah, I was seriously choked up during this bit -- of course, I bawled like a baby during the middle section of the tune itself later that night.
Here are some crappy cell phone pictures that I...
To be fair, I didn't bring her up first. I'm just happy to push the discussion in unintended directions. ;)
I love "Toxic"! There was an article somewhere (and I can't for the life of me find it) that claims "...Baby One More Time" was one of the most important tracks of the '90s -- that from the moment...
Say what you will about "Invisible Touch," but "...Baby One More Time" is a fantastic pop song. (It's almost as if there's music NOT actively trying to be prog. Hmmmmmmmm...)
"Rock and roll" is a fairly useless descriptor to begin with, though. I know there has to be some genre separation for music lovers to function, which is fine, but really no artist past, oh, 1975(?)...
As I see it, there are huge omissions in every decade, not just the '70s. Burt Bacharach/Hal David is an egregious snub, as is The Carpenters. The Monkees -- product? Perhaps, but hugely important....
Yes, every night following the rest of the acts! Here's the official website with more info: http://ahepj.com/
You're going to have a blast, JKL! And yes, as Mstove says, make sure you come to the After Hours jam -- there are bound to be a few surprises. Not that I'm playing in it or anything... :good
Re: seating. It's based on when you book, not how expensive your cabin is (the main exception to this is the VIP package, which guarantees you a spot in the first ten or so rows). Some of us plebians...
Probably a few weeks ago when the new CHVRCHES album came out. Not prog by any stretch of the imagination, but one that's been in my ears nonstop since.
FWIW, I think "Gaza" is sublime. Even more powerful in concert -- what an opener! That said, it did take a few listens for it to click. There's lots and lots of layering (more than in any other...
"The Border" has some subtle percussion stuff in the first verse that was almost nonexistent on the original mix. There are a few synth glissandos that were buried pretty low that have been brought...
No code here yet. Hoping it hasn't gotten lost in the ether...Maybe they're staggering them out to prevent server overload?
I caught "Messenger of All's Right" from the ProgScape show this evening. I can definitely see myself wearing that one out when the album's released. Absolutely gorgeous melodies throughout.
Brilliant. Immediately recognizable, just like all of his parts. "Lead bass" isn't really a term that could be applied to many musicians, but Chris is one.
God, "Ritual" is great. The Symphonic Live version may be one of the finest ever performances by the band.
Going to go with another slightly offbeat one...
...
Having done the last two -- you don't, really. 4 hours sleep a night (if people have turned in early) and quick buffet lunches/dinners in the cafeteria. You're basically never in your cabin, either.
Have you heard "Six"? It's really, really good. Room for both in the world.
(For the record, I really like this track and *GASP* the video. So maybe I don't have any taste after all.)
Simon's the best part of the album, if you ask me. The fills on "Working in Line" in particular are absolutely effortless -- lots going on, but never too overpowering. Reminds me of a certain drummer...
Speaking of Jeremy Soule, I'm going to throw something into this hat that may be slightly niche: The Humongous Entertainment children's adventure game soundtracks. Jeremy and his brother Julian were...
I think Brave is a bit much to take in first, plus it's much much better live (in my opinion, at least). I've also never been completely enamored with Marbles as an album (it's great, certainly; and...
Right. "Bad direction leading to poor editing choices" is what I really meant. And perhaps not "stir up trouble," but there was a definite attempt to paint an image here of the three-man lineup's...
Bad editing, possibly with the intent to stir up trouble.
Right. My point is that Tony is certainly not at fault here, which some people seem to think is the case.
Banks is often full of praise for "Wind & Wuthering," but 1) that album doesn't get mentioned AT ALL and 2) the band only mentions "The Lamb" in the all-too-brief roundtable discussions.
Firstly, I find myself disagreeing with everyone who said that Tony came off crabby in this documentary -- he's very reserved, but honest. I appreciate that immensely, even when I may not agree with...
Oh, man. Tony is so, so thrilled to be on the One Show. The excitement is palpable.
...But yeah, his snark is fun, as always. Would love to hear what he'd think of that "Supper's...
Probably the best power pop band ever. Come on, Steve. Didn't Kyle Henderson become born-again and do a solo album on Kerry Livgren's label? Or am I imagining things?
Almost every band on Cruise to the Edge this year instigated audience clapping at one point during their concerts. I'd never clapped so much in my life. I hear you now: "CLAPPING IN PROG? NO!!!!" As...
How were the snippets from people who sent in responses? The magazine won't be here in the states for another month or two, and I'm curious as to how they pulled that bit off.
