The book arrived today and looks wonderful. I could never play the fast bit of Fracture quickly enough let along cleanly enough so I'm fascinated by the story.

Are we sure that air cars means a skirted hovercraft?
I've never thought about Red Barchetta in this detail before.
Explosions in the sky and A Silver Mt Zion are also fantastic.
At my first show, I was told that they'd played What We Have Sown a few gigs back.....would've loved to see it but to no avail.
1) Variations on a Dream
2) Tightly Unwound
3) Someone Here Is Missing
4) Little Man
5) Your Wilderness
6) Dissolution
7) 10 Stories Down
After this I find it hard to rank them. My favourite...
The Soord Sessions is a really good release. I'd recommend it.
I saw the one that was released in the original post. It was in Islington at the town hall if memory serves. Having seen them in little venues and pubs 15 years ago, it's been quite the journey for...
It was a wonderful show, I was there!!
I've heard the first disc so far and it reminds me of the earlier days of the band (just pre-kscope and then Tightly Unwound time) in small pubs with Bruce playing mini-acoustic sets to fill out some...
That's a shame John but I'm sure I'll enjoy the Krimson review!
I decided to listen in the order of the books and read the interview whilst I listen.
Now tempted to look into that AMM album...
Thanks John, I stumbled across those before I bought the boxes.
Will you be reviewing the boxes at all?
The boxes just arrived for me today - so much music I'm not sure where to start!!
I'll have to listen to that interview tomorrow, 3 box sets purchased.
I also watched the Henry Cow performance from 76. Some nicely complex songs there.
Gravity is amazing!!
Thanks Munster - I'm listening to the sampler tracks on Bandcamp and enjoying it. I've read through this thread but so many videos and too little time to listen! I find I listen mostly on portable...
Stumbled across the Fred Records story boxes on Bandcamp. Are they a good introduction?
I've listened to Guitar Solos and Nowhere/Sideshow/Thin Air and enjoyed them generally.
Zeppelin Dazed & Confused....probably the reason I like prog.
Itll be interesting how the set is structured; often the way you can work out how the artist feels about an album or how its been received.
Enjoyed the first listen yesterday. The last song is beautiful.
Exciting news!
Wonderful review. I'm passing on this box as I'm not sure I'll have the time to get through all the studio sessions. I know ill be fascinated by it all but will pass.
Looking forward to this, thanks for putting it on at a good time for us in the UK.
I had a ticket for this show but was ill with what in retrospect could have been Covid19 - I'll never know. First DT tour I've missed in many a year but glad I'll get to see it.
Crazily musically impressive. Superb!
Giving this a listen now out of curiosity. Quite enjoyable albeit a couple of more difficult tracks for me.
What should I listen to next of theirs?
Imagine a duet album of some manner? Could be crazy!
Believe? is ok, not one of his better albums but still much to admire from it.
Need to get more into Resistor, I like what I've heard but never quite clicked fully for me.
I always thought it was just me with Steve! There's little talk of him anywhere. His last solo album was superb.
No, 1 track of silence per cd where every member of the band is credited for choosing not to play a note in view of the isolation and separation around us (see also Trio).
I'm not sure how many on here are fans of Steve Unruh's acoustic prog with a metal tinge (to my ears at least). I'm sure more prefer Phideaux!
Still it seems they got together last year for a live...
A simple one as its been a good few years since Scambot 2, whens the next album due?
Also, what was it like to work and tour with Devin Townsend? Loved watching him play The Black Page on that...
What an album!

So excited for this
One reason he may sell out some arenas is due to only playing 2-3 uk dates rather than the normal 10 or so.
Didnt realise they were done in one take....will have to look through my archive for em!
Where are the 21CSM sessions? Those could be the most fascinating.
They are also releasing it as a download on vimeo.
Saw them last night in Birmingham. Was a superb show from them but if I'm honest, preferred the Kings Place and Cadogan shows due to the format....2 sets gives me time to decompress on all the notes....
Phenomenal band!
Picked this up at the RAH. It comprises a selection from all the single mp3 downloads. Shows how much the band have grown over the last 5 years. Not sure I appreciated that from the separate releases.
Out of the ashes is superb, enjoyed that. Need to listen to Invisible Symphony too which is also up.
Superb news. Hope he puts the older albums up too.
Love The Great Divide. Is there any reason he's not offering the music via bandcamp or similar now?
Interesting, I miss them as a band.
Indiscipline is always a highlight, I think they built on some of the jamming from the first night in it. Especially the round where they were trying to put Levin off.
Also got the box, actually...
Thoughts after the 2 RAH gigs I'm seeing. Generally, they seem looser with more space to jam than previously. I think there's more time when only one of the drummers is drumming (as opposed to...
Tuned percussion for Frame By Frame's first verse. Sounded like they were still working it out a bit to be honest. EleKtriK sounded amazing.
Valen, would recommend the ReconstruKction of Light at least, its improved an album I already loved.
I wouldn't mind if it was just mp3! Guess I'm buying a bluray player for the computer and then starting the process!
Really enjoyed reading that albeit it took longer than the interval in the cricket!
It makes me determined to somehow listen to all of the bluray content. I love TCoL, it just makes sense to me...
I wish there was a download code for the bluray live content. Not sure how I rip that without a bluray player!
When this has been out for a few months, someone remind me to rip those blurays!
I need to know details....someone must've been there last night!
That's a difficult question, Terria and Synchestra was where I started (around when they came out). Also love Transcendence and Epicloud.
^^ if you've not read his book, search it out. Fascinating and honest read.
Is there going to be more than Summers End in the UK?
And an octave down.....
Looking forward to it. It's intriguing that the tour poster has a "celebrating 20 years of SFAM" under the main title.
Some of us don't have to wait until the 11th....
You've gotta remember that reusing themes is also something Portnoy loves doing. Didn't he say that the original Testimony 2 was lacking that?
