Lions officially announce Dan Campbell as new head coach today. I remember when he played a few years with the Lions as a tight end. He was part of the 0-16 team if I remember right.

Just to be clear, my original post was about Chris's heart attack which happened quite a few years ago and was not about his recent passing.
Highly recommend Tim Bowness "Flowers At The Scene" from 2019. Really strong album IMO.
Still the ultimate Sea Shanty song from The Decemberists:

Although I still consider “Appetite For Destruction” one of the great hard rock albums of all time, I would probably have to go with Van Halen. I never saw Guns live, and only saw Van Halen once. I...
Wow, very cool background. I did not know most of that although, I do remember talking to him about is brother's situation.
Just finished season 3 of “OZ”. The earlier comment about a “soap opera for men” is pretty accurate. I like it, but it gets rather repetitive after a while. I am not sure if I will watch all 6...
I am currently reading "A Promised Land" by Barrack Obama. I am about half way through it and finding it very interesting. It is pretty much a straight up memoir of his election and first 4 years...
If I remember right the book was written before the final break up happened. He talks about earlier break ups, but not the most recent.
I read that one a few years ago. I have also read both of Crosby's books and Young's. Nash's was a nice addition to the story. If you are looking for a really really good CSN&Y biography I would...
This really is one of the coolest things about ProgDay and other festivals. Differences do really disappear. It seems like most times you meet new people one of the first questions is "what do you...
Very sorry for your loss.

Having worked in the industry, I can’t imagine that they would go offline on purpose at this critical time. That just does not make any sense. At the Kalamazoo facility, there were plans to build a...
Yoopers (or people who live in the U.P.) have their own unique accents which is different from those of us who are trolls (live under the bridge) in the lower Peninsula. Whitmer has a very...
Cady definitely ranks right up there. That film got mixed reviews, but I thought DeNiro was amazing in it.
I don't know the whole story, but there was some kind of distribution conflict in Virginia a while back.
Mmmm.......not sure what Jane Curtain connection to Michigan is? I think she is from the East Coast if I remember right.
Watched "Uncut Gems" the other night. Certainly a different role for Sandler, but I thought he did a pretty amazing job in it. The movie is kind of like watching a slow motion train wreck in...
Ha, yep pretty accurate! If you want to hear a typical Michigan accent listen to our Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Even though she tries to speak generically she has one of the most profound Michigan...
I got the year end issue of Classic Rock in the mail yesterday. I have not gotten the year end issue of Prog yet. The classic rock issue is really good.
I have been going back and watching the HBO series OZ from back in the 90's. The character of Vernon Shillinger (played by J.K. Simmons) is a pretty nasty villain.
Mmmmmm……….that is troubling news. The Pfizer facility in Europe would be the Puurs Belgium site. I wonder if they are having problems manufacturing the vaccine. I have not talked to any of my...
We just found out this morning that our former neighbor has died of COVID. He was an elderly man, who was not in good health. Apparently his wife also caught it but survived. This is the first...
This is incredibly sad news. He was a person that I only saw once or twice a year at ProgDay or NEARfest, but we always remembered each other and had some great conversations. I distinctly remember...
The Lions have picked their new GM. I think it is a good pick, but I have thought that in the past...
I have been thinking about checking that one out.
Yup, the show was the first of it's kind. I remember hearing about it a lot back when it was on, but we did not have HBO then.
Exactly, some of the intersections between the different factions seemed forced. Again, the season was not bad, but I don't think it was at the level of the other 3.
My wife started watching it with me, but it is not her thing. I am enjoying it so far, but I totally see what you mean.
Looks like Netflix is going to release at least one new movie every week for 2021: https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/netflix-to-release-over-70-movies-in-2021/vi-BB1cIOKC?ocid=msedgdhp
Now that Pederson is available it will be interesting to see if the Lions interview him. I was under the impression that their interviews were over and a decision was coming, possibly this week, but...
We went back and started watching "Oz" on HBO the other night. It was one of the first HBO original shows back in the 90's, but we never saw it. You can tell HBO has come a long way in their...
Prior to Saturday Night Fever I had heard very few Bee Gee songs, but over the years I have heard more and it is not bad at all.
That is a great story. I would agree that their music moved away from what I liked after Barry started using the falsetto. Some of their early stuff is quite good.
Just saw that yesterday. Very sad....
Thanks for the synopsis. As mentioned in my previous post, I did not even know they existed until around 2010-ish, so I need to go back and explore their history. I had no clue they had been around...
Pretty much my exact same thoughts. I really like it and it was one of my favorite albums of 2019, but for me "The Dark Third" is a masterpiece and it did not come close to that level.
The Michigan governor is going to announce this afternoon that the indoor dining ban (and other restrictions) is going to be extended until February 1. It was originally set to expire this coming...
Are you thinking of Galactic Cowboy Orchestra maybe? I need to get the new Soften The Glare album. They were great at ProgDay.
I discovered them around 2010 with the "Heavy Metal Fruit" album which I still think is great. "The Tower" and "The Crucible" are also favorites of mine.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. Seems like it might be a good idea to get tested to know for sure. I have a friend who was sick as a dog a couple of weeks ago and was convinced he had COVID. ...
Watched it tonight and agree with your assessment. A lot of movie sites I see are predicting both Boseman and Davis for Oscar nominations. They were both great in the film.
Regarding it being...
Just watched the relatively new Bee Gees documentary on HBO. I thought it was good, although they completely skip over some stuff (the Sgt. Pepper movie for example). I was never a fan of the band,...
Even though I lost money on the game, as a fan of another long suffering NFL team I was happy to see The Browns do so well. I can't imagine they will get by the next round, but if they play like...
Nice!
That one is next on my list.
Just got my October issue of Classic Rock today in the mailbox.
One of the cool things you will find is that although each season is it's own separate entity, they find ways to tie them into each other for all 4 seasons, which I think is cool.
Going for it on 4th down and not kicking the field goal may come back to haunt them in the end.
We saw it in a theater. It was a long one, but I enjoyed it. I had a beer with the movie and by the end I had pee really bad!
Interesting, I did not know that. Thanks!
That is a very good summation, and I agree.
I kind of thought the most recent season was slightly weaker than the first 3, but they are all great.
I did not get into Motorhead until sometime in the 00's, so I had to go back and explore their back catalogue. One of a kind band for sure, who kept doing great albums until the end.
:)
:)
The October issue of Prog just arrived in my mailbox this afternoon.
Thanks for the reminder. Watching it now.
If I am remembering right it was on a VHS tape first and then they put it out as part of a DVD. Even though Discipline were out of Detroit I did not become aware of them until ProgDay 97. By that...
