Some real experts here.

Hi Magic Mountain,
I have Pienza Ethnorkestra - Indiens d'Europe listed & filed as Zeuhl. Great CD!!!
So would you say this is a pretty solid list of Rio/Avant prog artists/recordings, that i can base my explorations on?
AFTER DINNER: Editions
Alec K. Redfearn & the Eyesores - The Smother Party...
Jeez Prehensile Pencil, i've heard of bout 5 of those!
Guess i got some listening to do.
You guys are awesome. Thanks!!!
Thanks SS, i started a new, more specific, thread to pray upon yours, and others Avant expert leanings!
I'm fairly new to the world of RIO/Avant Prog, and are looking for more of the essential titles.
I have all the Univers Zero albums, Samla, Present and Zappa albums, as well as these:
...
Ahh ok, seemed that there was not much difference between RIO and avant prog then, as a sub genre?
I'm new to the sub genre, so eager to learn what to explore.
Cheers!
david

Sorry Romerovm,
Did not see the notification until today. Still very interested!
It's fantastic.
Downloading my flac files now. Cant wait to hear it!
The End is Beautiful is one of the best things they have ever done!
Heavy Blue Miles alone! Then the title track and the rockers Georgia Pine and Make me Sway. Perfection!
BTW the new album is...
Zeuhl means celestial in Kobaļan, the constructed language created by Christian Vander of the band Magma. Originally solely applied to the music of Magma, the term "zeuhl" was eventually used to...
Top, Jannick - Infernal Machina
Eskaton - Ardeur
Benoit Widemann-Stress, Tsunami & 3
Les Cycles de Thanatos by Vortex
One shot-Dark Shot
Joel Dugrenot - Boomerang
Sotos-s/t
Bernard...
Fair enough!
I think your over exuberance might turn a few off investigating the disc, which would be a shame... as it is awesome. Just a thought.
Heard the first 4 tracks...fabulous!
Arti+Mestieri ordered! YEAH!
Oh jeez there are like 15 Art Zoyd albums. Ill start with one. Which one is the best? Cheers!
I just ordered the rest of them. I'm obsessed.
That first track on Ceux "dense"....holy shit!!!
Sounds killer to me!
douchebag of all douchebags!
Well at the "end of the day" (pun intended) its all subjective!
I don't suggest anything. They can do what they want. Its just my opinion, and open for healthy discussion.
Sure. I am really not being arrogant...it is just my humble opinion. Bands that i consider just keep getting better are as follows (in alphabetical order):
Accordo Dei contrari
Aquaserge
Big Big...
A lot of bands just keep nailing it from album to album, which keeps my interest. SB is just not one of them.
I got 3500 cds in my collection. Some artists more than others. For instance I have 50 Zappa and they are all quite different and interesting.
Yep that's all you would need
If a band gets tired, then move on is my motto
Snow was like the 5th album I believe. They had said everything at that point imo. I moved on to discover and devour other bands. I would rather use my time on new territory. So many magnificent...
So what is the point listening to any Spocks beard album after Snow? It has all been done by that point.
Ha, i just realized that i actually saw Univers Zero at Baja Prog in 2007. I only wish i had appreciated them then, like i do now!
Oh Jeez, What Present do i need?
Listening to Ceux du Dehors. WOW!!!!
You can hire those guys for the right price. Also did you know Simon was in the original lineup of Asia, but only on paper. Never made it to the first recorded incarnation.
Ok that song and video were both absolutely awful. Quite a waste of Simon and Nathan s talents. Who is the audience for this crap? I'm really scratching my head on this one.
Cool.i just ordered heresie, ceux du dehors, heatwave and crawling wind.
Great thanks guys!
Just purchased Uzed, and wow I am really digging it. Never heard them before. What should i get next?
Am I the only one hearing formulaic prog by the numbers? I dunno. I was lucky enough to see SB at their peak. They were progressive and vital. This just sounds unimaginative and stale. Sorry.
What i'm not entitled to an opinion? Your sarcasm was unnecessary.
Pre-ordered. So excited. Here is the Echolyn excerpt from my 2001 documentary "ProgFilm".

Beggs is good for sure, but hardly an innovator like Squire or Jaco. He has just built on what has come before him, like most of the players you are mentioning here. My list reflected the true...
I have seen them many times over the years, but none so magical as the first.
Wembley 1977, Going for the One Tour. I was Seventeen. 5589
We the people love list threads!!
Scott LaFaro was an amazing acoustic bass player that left us too soon!
I agree. Yes should call it quits. Unfortunately the promise of making good money keeps them going
I just mentioned my personal favorites. Obviously there are a lot more that deserve to be mentioned by you guys.
