You say you "think" you have heard enough for one lifetime. So there is still a chance! I think Haken is one of the best recent bands going now. The Mountain was a grower for me but I like it very...

You say you "think" you have heard enough for one lifetime. So there is still a chance! I think Haken is one of the best recent bands going now. The Mountain was a grower for me but I like it very...
Nektar's light show in the mid to late 70's was incredible, not to mention the performance. Maybe the best concert I have ever seen. Not bad for 4 bucks. Tab, Recycled and RTF have been my favorites...
Down The Dolce Vita
Moribund The Burgermeister
Humdrum
Here Comes The Flood
San Jacinto
That said, time to give a listen to the vintage PG.
For me personally, The last decade of prog is more fulfilling than anytime since the decade of the 70's. There was a hiccup for me through the 80's and 90's, but I feel that the genre is making gains...
That's cool. So you're going for the whole Moody Blues gamut. Lot of good listening ahead for you.
Mick, sorry about the pissy post last night. I did click on to the Nektar project. Missed the part about the new lineup, without Ron. I'm not asking for instant answers, but like to know what goes on...
OK, so if Nektar doesn't give a s**t about trying to communicate with their fans on FB, why should us fans give a s**t about their future plans? Who's in charge here? Mick, you have done everything...
Seventh Sojourn was my favorite release. I had/have most of the early stuff. Wore the grooves off of "This Is The Moody Blues". My advice for the Scansin thread poster would be the "This Is The Moody...
Mick, I live in the states, but would encourage anyone in The UK that has a chance to see Nektar should do so. Even if it's not on their favorites list. It's a good prog show, I reckon.
Sanguine Hum- The Weight Of The World
Sanguine Hum- The Weight Of The World
Steve Hackett- GRII
The Tangent- Le Sacre Du Travail
Haken- The Mountain
Lifesigns-ST
The Custodian- Necessary Wasted Time
Not A Good Sign- ST

I managed to get my download. Lot of stuff there for anyone who hasn't gotten too deep into the Tangent catalogue. Good sampling of the whole gamut, if you will.
I tried clicking on the Buy Now, 4.50 Tab on the Tangent web page and it didn't take me to a download page. I listened to the song. It's good. Not sure why I can't sort it out. I bought their last 2...
Mick, if you could squeeze side 1 of Recycled in there rather than Fidgety Queen we have a perfect set. Either way, I would walk away from this set with a smile on my face. More Evolution and Time...
I have Emotional Creatures I and II, Into The Ether, and Crimes And Reasons. I like most of the latter two, but EC II is by far my favorite album. Could not get into EC I for some reason.
Time Machine is balanced as an album that is more appreciated for listening for the sake of music enjoyment more than a live setting for the most part. Nektar played "A Better Way" and "Time Machine"...
2013 was my favorite for my neo leaning prog. Bought more CDs this year for sure.
Top 10, No particular order.
Haken- The Mountain
Sanguine Hum- Weight Of The World
Not A Good Sign- S/T...
I liked EIMA from the get go. The only issue I had with it was the first two songs start out tame, and then blam you upside the head without warning. Kind of like Hyperventilate does. Milliontown is...
Evolution got played many times by me for a good stretch. I put up my Do Not Disturb sign when "Phazed By The Storm" was playing. That song is so..... Nektar. Time Machine keeps getting better with...
Sanguine Hum is working on a new album, as is Glass Kites, a Vancouver crossover prog band. Their 1st album was good. A bit tame at times, but a good listen. Also interested to see what Knifeworld...
I suppose that I don't understand the value of the song posted above; XhohX- Blaxbox. I find it disturbing, no doubt, but I tend to play it a bit safer with my likes. I know that Mr. Scissors makes...
I can recommend that you come back to earth/reality and appreciate music for what is meant to be. No offense,of course. I'm tired of your handle being discussed here.
I got into Beardfish after Sane Day. I liked most of SIT, Destined Solitaire, The Mammoth, The Void not so much, but I will agree, DT should be opening for them.
Knifeworld has a new video on youtube, "Don't Land On Me". It's a cool thing to check out. I hope they come out with an album soon. Just found out about Cirrus Bay here last night. Checked them out...
I have mentioned a couple of times that during the last tour, Roye mentioned a couple of times on stage, see you next year. That was at the Milw. show. Casey, I know about the debacle that prevented...
I didn't take the opportunity to see the Steven Wilson tour, however I am familiar with Theo's work with The Tangent. He adds an enormous amount of sound that adds to the jazzy elements of The...
Whatever Nektar's future has in store for their fans, I would say that anything that we get from Nektar is a bonus. They gave me more joy with their early music than bands such as Yes, Genesis, Pink...
Aaron, hope you are having a good day, as well.
I had the same reaction toward the two albums. I've listened to Weight Of The World a lot since it was released and never tire of it, never skip a track. There are a lot of catchy vocals and...
The passages that the vocals sound like John Lennon are tracks 1,2,7 and 9. To me, they for sure carry the vocal style of Lennon. I have to toss a bit of humor your way. I'm curious if there is a...
But the defining difference as always is the dynamic lead vocal and mastermind behind the music. This Rickard is an impressively unique talent which grows this Beard on the Fish. In the Wilson mode...
I've given this album a few listens, and I hear vocals on it that sound a lot like John Lennon. It makes me wonder if some of these songs would resemble what John would have done along the way if he...
I have liked what Ray Wilson brought to Genesis, and I like Daryl Stuermer,as well. I also remember a comment that SOC may be looking for a guitar player. With all that is going on, I can imagine...
I saw Nektar in Milwaukee with the Space Invasion tour. There were about 150 in attendance. Saw them last year with Wishbone Ash and I'm thinking there were about 200 at Shank Hall. I think that...
Listened to the Spooky Action the other night on the link provided. Like it a lot and will be getting my copy w/ t-shirt any day now. Good stuff from the fierce ones. Anyone else here checking out...
Just listened to this the first time. The entire album flows very well. No need to look for the skip button. The personal post it note on the CD made me enjoy even more. Good stuff. Found it here on...
Of the 2013 releases, I have found that L'Etagre is a bit more accessible and more of a grower than Le'Sacre. Both good albums. My favorite earlier Tangent is "World That We Drive Through". "A Place...
I never warmed up to The Incident. I like "Time Flies", but that's about it for me. I liked the previous albums by PT.
Why would folks be arguing whether Peter Gabriel Genesis was better than the present day Revisited II, anyways. I am trying to live my life in this day and age, and I could likely go to my grave...
What is there not to like about Wild Orchids?
It could have been, just a coincidence, Now and again, a song sounds like something that you have previously heard before.
Just got Desolation Rose in the mail today. I like the lyric content, and I think I'm going to like this album. It's never too hard to brainwash myself into liking a Flower Kings album!
That was good then. This is good now.
Good review John. Just gave my first listen to the companion disc last night. It is very easy to listen to, and it has a lot of the jazzier elements in it. The revisited songs are quite good.
I didn't pursue Saiko because there is only one song in English. I'm finicky, that way.
Saw Nektar in Milwaukee last year during the Nektar/ Wishbone Ash tour. Twice during the set, Roye mentioned, see you next year.
I totally agree with the last 4 posts, and did feel that Peter Gabriel's theatrics were a bit embarrassing to watch. His vocals were very good, tho. Never saw the MB. Steve Hackett has done a great...
I agree, This is an awesome album. They also released a double CD/ DVD, Strong Together about 3 years ago. If you like Quidam, this is a must have. You really get to see what great musicians they...
SRS, I pre ordered the set of CD's May 13. I received Le Sacre in June and got the companion disc yesterday. I think if you message The Tangent on their website, they can track it down, or make good...
I'm looking to go to Rosfest next year. When do they typically have have the last TBA bands announced? I've heard that Camel is making another go at it. Andy Tillison mentioned that he would be open...
It was the same in Milwaukee. When they sung the lyric, I asked my son what time it was. Yea, it was five past nine.
I suppose you could say that. Thanks to geezer for that. I'm thinking that I could be in for a special time in May. I'm guessing that you will be making the trip, as well, Lopez?
I'm pretty sure it's time for a road trip come May. That was easy.
Maybe I could get Geezer to bully me into going. At this point, It wouldn't take a lot of arm twisting.
I have yet to go to my first prog festival. After hearing this announcement, I'm in serious debate with myself.
I like the Mammoth album quite much, tho The Void went a bit heavy for me. Destined Solitaire is heavy at times as well, but good. Beardfish is a blue collar band that always tries to please. I think...
I have been listening to the new Haken for several weeks , and it gets better with every listen. I credit hearing the entire album on progrock magazine to me making the purchase. It is likely to be...
Maybe it isn't as much parenting skills, but the fact that she has good taste in music! Or both. My 22 year old son went to GRII and several other shows in the past few years. I sincerely think he...
I read the link that Wilcox provided, and it pretty much sums up the experience that Steve Hackett is bringing to the the folks that are interested in this remaking of the old Genesis songs. Bravo to...
Sunday show started at 8:05. No intermission. When they did the song. Blood On The Rooftops, and the lyrics go, What's the time, five past nine, the time was exactly 9:05.
