Just started listening to this. The beginning goes straight to Yes and some anecdotes about Drama and 90125.
The most exciting bit (for me) is when they propose doing another "deep dive" interview...
Check out episode "Tony Kaye – YES" of podcast "The Strange Brew - artist stories behind the greatest music ever recorded".

Oh shit, I forgot Jeff Beck.
Probably the best I have seen.
Tommy Emmanuel
Steve Morse
Alan Holdsworth
Steve Lukather
Kaki King
Mark King also plays drums on this!

Relieved to find that others appreciate this song as much as I do!
For those that thanked me for posting, you are very welcome (although you may not like the rest of the album - a bit mellow imho)....
Totally agree re Squire, to the extent that I consider “To the Rescue” by Esquire to be Yes. The obvious presence of White on that track and the bass friendly mix of Horn is the icing.

Surely with the time signature, harmonies and instrumentation?
Spot on. I still favour their first Planet X album because of Virgil’s input.
The latest “Hustle” is a “deep dive” into the album and Phil offers some very candid commentary. His affection for Steve Howe is significant, especially in relation to the money he received from the...
Wondering if he'd share his thoughts on these guys and their work...
Jeff Porcaro, Vinnie Colaiuta and Virgil Donati (given that I think he is up there with them - although Virgil might be on...

Thanks for asking my iTunes question Sean!
Stoked that they will be released...
Yes, it’s dry and has errors that should have been picked up however...
I appreciate
- that I can hear his voice
- his commitment to his family
- his commitment to guitar
- his steadfastness re...

Imogen Heap and her musical gloves.
I have to admit that this is probably the best version I have heard of this. Interesting how he changed “you’ve got to want to succeed” to “you’ve got to want the be free”.
Thanks for sharing.

Better than I thought it would be.
The bv’s must be on a track though.
Sure is.
I really enjoy this podcast. Great episodes include Paddy Macaloon and Nik Kershaw. This one is a good ‘un.

I’d say Open Your Eyes without Steve Howe.
I like it (except the solo and outro sections which are pretty tepid).
I am actually a big Outfield fan...and I quite like a few songs off OYE’s.
What, no Sherwood!? Or Downes!?!
with a dollop of autotune?
They finally grew up when they released Going For the One. It transcends everything before - Wakeman in particular. It’s a shame his live renditions show none of the touch or restraint (compare the...
Does this count?

I saw Icehouse last night and it was a very enjoyable show. They played the title track from their most successful album, Man of Colours, and Iva Davies handed vocal duties to another band member,...
This is awesome - listen if you like Holdsworth.

I think Mark King plays bass on The Riddle.
Big fan here. Check out The Works with Vinnie Colaiuta.
Check this site out for an insight into his craft....https://www.sodajerker.com/episode-23-nik-kershaw/
Is it true the band was using an offstage keyboardist during the 90125 and Big Generator tours?
What happened is there were so many things to do from a point of view of overdubs and enhancing...
Sorry, having issues embedding.
Well, now that has been settled maybe RW can chill out a bit on that intro to Awaken and approach it with the light touch he displayed on the album. Is he capable? It's nearly as unpalatable as TR's...
I was thinking about this album the other day. I was actually a fan of it before I knew of any Squire connection. I remember listening with friends and loving the fact that this new band must love...
Anyone who can do this...

I just discovered this awesome podcast and what a delight to hear Paddy Macaloon discuss his craft. Seems like a lovely guy.

Just got must got my ticket today to see the mighty Oils. Saw them last in the mid 80's and I am going with the same blokes I went with back then! They certainly had a proggy side - and I highly...

I'm sure I read an interview with Billy where he said the the producer of the World Trade album (Ken Scott?) pushed him too hard.
Has this Glasgow performance come up on the forum before? Classic stuff - I still support the current band btw.

I'm also trying to figure out why Geoff triggers a sample of the response figure with his right foot in the keyboard call and response section (for want of a better term) after the first "I am a...
I reckon Into The Lens is pretty damned good on that clip. Alan is definitely a little lost in places (when Steve gives him the "no, not there!" nod being one) and JD's voice doesn't have the initial...

Cheers! I hope you enjoy Prefab Sprout. Not only is it generally great songwriting but also an awesome rhythm section (Neil Conti 'in the pocket' on the drums) and Paddy has a unique voice.
Okay. I am going to quote myself from earlier in the thread here because I am awesome. :)
Just read the interview with Chris Braide (thankyou Patrick) and found this quote...

If you roll back the intensity of what JE says in that interview I find that it matches my view of the 'classic lineup' pretty well. I agree that Steve H has not recorded any guitar (soundwise,...
On a side note, I quite like two bands that have been bigger in the US than in their home country, UK. The Outfield and BBMak (the second album). Rick Springfield was much bigger in the US than in...

'Roy: One last question for you before I let you go. It sounds like there’s a good fit going on. I have to assume there’s another Yes album in the works.

Big Generator - up with my 3/4 favourite Yes albums
Talk - love most of it
Magnification, Open You Eyes, Fly From Here - inconsistent but with tracks I love
Keys - never listen - terrible...
Enjoy! Amazing voice - Overkill...
Suburban Ghosts Part III (Lost in Suburbia) has a definite Prefab Sprout vibe to it. They must have been shooting for Paddy Macaloon - the upper octave on the melody, certain vocal effects/textures,...
