Hmmm. I remember that it got radio airplay when the record came out. I assumed it was the single.
Been listening to a lot of Yes as a result of Alan White's passing. Tormato, I hadn't listened to in a long time.
To my ears, it's the worst of the classic era, but there are some redeeming...
Nice song and sentiment, Richard! The hook in the chorus is rather infectious, too!
I'm not a Doors fan, but love this album. So, I guess, to me, it's their best! Is there a session player handling the bass? On Riders on the Storm, that sounds like a bass guitar, not Ray Manzarek.
The section where they do Awaken is pretty damn cool. I was at a show on this tour at the Capital Centre in Largo, MD and it was flat out amazing. Alan is a monster here! Wasn't Donovan the...
Watching some YES videos in honor of Alan and stumbled across this gem:

Good point, Bob. I'm always amazed that the Vets that have lived through some of the most harrowing experiences imaginable can live seemingly normal lives thereafter. For most, the experience of war...
Thank you, Renate! That's a great story about your grandfather. I can't imagine what it was like to live in those times. I hope we don't experience their like again. Alas, we may be done with...
^^ Thanks, Richard. Yes, Happy Memorial Day seems like an oxymoron.
Very sad for Alan's family and all of his fans of which I'm one. I certainly preferred Bruford's approach with Yes, but Alan grounded them and was the necessary glue to hold them together through...
One of the hallmarks of democracy is that ordinary people must occasionally step up and do heroic things to preserve their freedom and way of life. I was always moved when I saw an old, seemingly...
Whitesnake = a dick?
Slide It In = sex?
Tough to parse, but I think I get what they're trying to say through all of the subtlety.
Still don't understand his turn to murder. He had a moral code that he seemingly abandoned for no reason.
Going back through all seasons of this great show. What I don't understand is what turns Mike into a murderer? He suddenly goes from not wanting to snipe Hector Salamanca to shooting a lovelorn...
I remember buying this after reading Verlaine's interview in Guitar Player Magazine and hearing all the hype about the album. Never did anything for me; I'll have to listen again.
Wow! I never knew there was a connection between "The Producers" and Jellyfish. The album he was on with The Producers, "Run for Your Life" was never released on CD if I'm not mistaken? I might...
If you haven't heard Hall's "Sacred Songs", rectify that immediately! It's great and a worthy inclusion in the trilogy.
Yes! I'm well. I have a new tune or two over at Soundcloud. I'm trying to work the kinks out of a new rig since my old Zoom 9050 went belly-up!
Love the vocals, Richard!
Jack Lancaster and Robin Lumley's "Marscape". Didn't Styx and Rick Wakeman release Mars-based records in the past few years?
Have you read McCullough's biography "John Adams"? It's great. His wife, Abigail, is pretty damned impressive, too!
This record lead me to listen to Daryl Hall's Sacred Songs. That is a damned good album! NYCNY sounds like another movement of Larks Tongue in Aspic.
Apparently, this record is getting the Steven Wilson treatment. It's being released in May 2022. I'm tempted, but will probably live with my original vinyl.
"First Official Outing on CD?" What does that mean about my CD edition on One Way and Terrapin Trucking?
^^ I think the version that both you and I have was sourced from a cassette mixdown. The masters have since been found and it's pristine in quality, just like the rest of the tracks.
Sorry, it's been a while since I visited this thread.
Bob: I love the sounds you get with the cover of Starless. You nailed it! I think it's amazing that you found musicians that wanted to...
My version has Heroes on it sourced from a cassette copy since, at the time, they hadn't located the masters. It's one of the better tracks on the album, which I think is a great one!
Bosch is great. Very faithful in tone to the books. Looks like there is an offshoot series in the making!
I have Self-Contained and the other one, whose name I can't remember. Well played for what they were; they were demo quality, maybe a notch better. The Empire stuff with Sidoney (sp?) Foxx or...
I love the first 3 Flash albums and, to a lesser extent, his "Two Sides" album. His life seems to have taken a tragic turn after those records, maybe self-inflicted, but a shame nonetheless. I...
Oh, geez! Ozark is great! Can't wait for 4/29!
My wife and I are watching the entire "The Shield" series which we checked out from the library. Man, it's amazing that this show was on mainstream cable. Every type of depravity that you can...
Bill, how do you like "Close to the Edge" or "Supper's Ready"? I don't understand a word of the lyrics, but I still love them. To this day, I've not understood Passion Play, except that it somehow...
I find APP to be one of the all-time masterpieces by anyone. I could care less about understanding the lyrics. Lyrics evoke different responses from everyone with meanings being fluid and...
The news release I read said the White Gibson ES355 is expected to garner bids of $200-$300K. Wow! No thanks!
New quotes from the original band members? That is going to be very tough. I remember liking this show quite a lot; particularly the way Howe improvised his solos and made the tracks more...
I always find it amusing that Chicago went from "soldiers of the revolution" in all its forms to purveyors of schlocky ballads and blow dry haircuts in less than 10 years. They did put out some...
I've just listened to the Wilson remix a few times. I think it's really improved; the changes are more noticeable and the guitars are more out front. I find it to be one of the more interesting...
I have the last reissue of this, 4 or 5 CD's from Rhino, I can't remember the exact number. It's great, but somewhat overkill and repetitive. No way I'll be springing for even more. Glad it's...
The playing is very tight and tame. The vocals are pretty bad; almost rap. Every melody seems to be in a tight range although that's what Ian's voice is capable of these days. Using a separate...
My Zoom 9050 just gave up the ghost and I replaced it with a Line 6 Pod X3 for $100. Wow! You can go down a rabbit hole with this thing. Cabinets, heads, mic's, effects........ I find it easier to...
I love it and tried to get a thread started on the release date. Here it is:

Nice stuff, Bob. Your organ gives the "country song" a bit of a gospel feel. The string samples on the Fabs track really makes the tune. I think it's very dangerous to tackle a Beatles track since...
^^ I think it's called Toy Box. I've listened to it a couple of times now. It's great! Really wasn't expecting something this good from a posthumous release.
I got the impression that Alex Lifeson wanted his playing to sound more like the Fixx or U2 with Grace Under Pressure. That, mixed in with Geddy Lee's fascination for keyboards, caused a defanging...
Anybody heard this yet? I really like it. I guess he tracked it live with his 2001 tour band after being on the road. It's got a lot of his old poppy tunes on it played by a strong, well-rehearsed...
Thanks for the listens and feedback, guys! Really appreciated!
Here's a new one which tells the story of violence in the streets through the eyes of a kid...
...
^^ Agree with Clockwork Angels! My favorite Rush since Grace Under Pressure.
The other amazing thing about Tull was the incredible amount of music being produced. Scrapping Chateau, coming up with Passion Play, and then War Child with all of the extra tracks from those...
Really great, Bob! I'm wondering how you do these collaborations. Do the songwriters tell you what they want, or do you have free reign? This one sounds very well produced as far as all of the...
Nice tune, Richard! I get somewhat of a Phil Collins-era Genesis vibe from it.
I'd rank it as ahead of Missing Piece and Giant for a Day. It's a good album.
I love it! My favorite Tull album. I bought it when it was released without hearing a note of it and my 15 year old self was somewhat puzzled, at first. I find it to be much mores rich musically...
Zeppelin at the Capital Center in Largo MD, 1977. They were loud, sloppy and incredibly wasted. I left after a few songs. Horrible.
Perhaps you're right. I really haven't listened to them beyond Brave. That album, and those before it, don't seem to feature Trewavas at all. His tone, attack, and chops on the Transatlantic...
I think the thing that surprised me the most about this group is Trewavas' bass playing. Really great. You'd never know from listening to Marillion.
Wow. That is sweet! Your keyboards provide a great backup up to the excellent guitarist. Love the bass playing, too. The scat duel is pretty cool, too!
Very well done. A little Floydish? Beautiful piano, vocals and arrangement.
