If you like the U.K. vibe, there's quite a few Japanese bands playing in that style. Wappa Gappa comes pretty close in my ears and the older bands like Outer Limits have some strong U.K. influences...
Had my first and second listen today and I like it!
There's some Banco/ PFM vibes going on and I actually laughed when I heard some Morricone-esque passages!
The first and last track have quite few...
My copy arrived yesterday. Haven't played it yet. Busy days...
He made Hemispheres a huge success as well!
Coming soon...

Later this year a CD will be released as well (Karisma)
Discovered them yesterday. Pretty good stuff. Mixed by Rhys Marsh and vocals recorded at his studio.
Markus Reuter has attended Robert Fripp's Guitar Craft in his earlier days. So there's the influence. Also his work with Mastelotto and Levin (and even Belew years ago) must have rubbed off.
Anchor...
Something I noticed last week when playing the Il Mucchio (1970) album. Hadn't noticed it before.
At the 14 second mark theres a Morricone/ Good, Bad & the Ugly quote in the organ.

Still a great voice for a 69 year old! I love it!
I love the Italian Samadhi. It was one of my first RPI albums I bought through mail order. It didn't initially click with me, but it's a great piece of art with great vocals by Regoli. Some Big Band/...
Definitely some Sepia music coming soon (June 2) ..
The first solo album by Lars Fredrik Frøislie: Fire Fortellinger.

Stanley Snail was great!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azlchsTqc_U
Stanley Snail comes from the misheard lyric "Gold Stainless Nail" in this song.

I blame Billy Sherwood, who's initials aren't BS for nothing!
I always wondered why Yes never made an all instrumental album.
Sometimes a name can be just that, a name. But in an other language it can mean something really stupid.
Canadian band Bolus fort instance. In Dutch a "bolus" is a turd. A big one.
Swedish band...
Wow, that would be something!
You might mean someone else?
Neal Morris is the kind of singer my dad would love. He was totally into Bluegrass and American Folk music.
Stuart Nicholson (Galahad)
I can't understand nobody else ever noticed his voice is slightly off key.
*Bumpcity*
Arrived today already! Second impressions are better! Sounds amazing. Haven't had the chance to listen throughtout, but I will soon :) The best release of the year so far ;)
Last week I got this in my email, about the latest Anchor and Burden
( = Markus Reuter: Touch Guitars AU8 and S8, Soundscapes, Alexander Paul Dowerk: Touch Guitars S8, Bernhard Wöstheinrich:...
After I got the Si-Wan CD I really started to enjoy it. Sounds so much better than the Polydor.
Michele Conta's solo album from 2019 still has some of that recognisable piano playing.
...
Yes Union credits people that actually DIDN'T play on the album ;)
Oh, but if we're talking Eurovision, there's Blond!

With Patrik Lundstrom (Ritual, Kaipa).
And ofcourse Pain of Salvation:

He actually left the band to sing in and win Pop Idol and got a great career out of it, but sadly the band broke up. Great voice nonetheless and his solo stuff is worth it for that.
Missed this because I forgot to read the small print..
Sounds very nice. A bit Floydian (Animals era). I'll check it out to see if I like the rest.
Indeed!
Levin is with Peter Gabriel on tour soon. Might have somethig to do with that?
That's pretty cool new actually!
Got my Orlando disc today. Haven't heard anything apart from the clip mentioned earlier. Going to listen to it tomorrow. Transiberiana grew on me, thought the singer has a few weak spots on the...
I decided to listen to VotA* yesterday on headphones for the first time. With the first song I thought my headphones were plugged in wrong! What's with that mix? It's harsh and t(h)inny sounding. The...
Pat Mastelotto/ Markus Reuter's FACE is pretty epic. It's one continuous collage of melody, abstract sound and Crimsonization-esque music. You might need some time to fully appreciate it.

I acquired Voyage last year. Was my first listen as well. I used to have a Hackett live Box Set once, but I sold it because I grew tired of his sound very quickly.
Wanted to try some Hackett again....
Banco's lyrics are pretty damn good. Canto nomade per un prigioniero politico for instance is a great anti-war song. From the album Io Sono Nato Libero, which translates "I was born in freedom"....
The Dark Side of the Moon and Tubular Bells are the most wellknown albums that have their 50th birthday next year.
But alongside those and Tales From Topographic Oceans, Camel's debut and KC's...
Still haven't really listened to The Sea Within.

I used to have a UGUM compilation CD which had two versions(?) of Afghan Red.
No mention of Daniel Gildenlöw?
See what I did there ? ;)
Renate, I remember the interview. In one of the first issues of iO Pages in fact. Great you mention Neuschwanstein btw, since I just realized it's probably one of the first Neo Prog bands? To me it...
Should I sell my APM for $90 now and order me a new one, before the news gets out? Very tempting...

Still waiting for the new one. Meanwhile, back in the Norwegian jungle ....

Ah, and what about this? It's our Bigband (Big Band Friesland, serious amateurs) with strings, playing a Morricone Suite a few years ago arranged by our conductor, who is a big fan of Giú la Testa!...
BTW, already mentioned in the Italian Prog thread, here's Calibro 35's take on some of Morricone's work from "Scacco al Maestro - Volume 1".

I still have to see this, but NO word about any Gialli? What have you done to Solange? is probably the best he did in that field! And ignoring Nicolai is a sin in my book.
Is Dario Argento even in...
The sound isn't poor perse. Some noises can be heard. It's a real live album. TTBOMK no overdubs, so it's an honest product.
It's more that the band was never really satisfied with the end result....
^^
Oh, I like that! :)
Quoting myself here for this. And it was 15 years ago already...:

I thought preople were talking about the Änglagård Records ANG 01 from 2009 :)
I'm listening to a new song by Änglagård now, which I found. At least it was new to me :)
It even has vocals!

With Trettioåriga Kriget you best start with the first two (S/T and Krigssång)
If you still like what you're hearing (Robert Zima is an acquired taste I guess, but Stefan Fredin sounds as friendly...
BTW NeBeLNeST did some great stuff as well.. Man, all this great music!
Buried Alive was my first intruduction to them. Was described as Close to the Edge meets This as a Brick IIRC. After that one, I just bought the others @ GFT / Malcolm Parker. Did that with Anekdoten...
Although we were initially talking Änglagård here, the influence of Landberk is still there. Opeth's Åkerfeldt is a big fan and used some of the Landberk sheen on his (and Wilson's) Storm Corrosion....
Yeah, looking forward to the new Banco. Transiberiana turned out to be a great album (the vocalist had to grow on me).

Sorry, did quote you.. But he's been announcing them for the past ten years or more. Including bonustracks and all. Could it be they're finally coming? a 30 year anniversary perhaps? Here's hoping he...
Hemispheres is the only Rush album I like all the way through. I had this for years on cassette and never bought it on CD. I need to find a great sounding version (original 80s release or Audio...

Sagor och Swing's keyboardist Eric Malmberg is heavily influenced by Bo Hansson (no surprises here) and had Hansson guesting on synthesizers on his Verklighet & Beat album in 2007.
Sagor och Swing...
Italian groups Standarte, London Underground and Merry Go Round have a good vibe.
The link between the three is bassist Stefano Gabbani.
Or, of you want some really modern day Psych, I'd...
