I need to hear Progress as I really love Sunset Wading!
Binge of the last few weeks:
Cheer-Accident : Fades (US, 2018) *****
5uu's : Regarding Purgatories (US, 2000)
The Mothers of Invention : Burnt Weeny Sandwich (US, 1970) ***+
Lindsay Cooper :...
I mostly agree. Waters was the soul and the brains of Pink Floyd. My favourite Floyd album is Animals.
I would rate The Final Cut and Waters' rock solo albums like this:
1. The Final Cut *****
2. Is This the Life We Really Want? ****½
3. Amused To Death ****½
4. The Pros and Cons of Hitch...
Let us all rejoice!
That is a good album too. The Final Cut is better though.
My favourite The Muffins album also. I prefer the Frith-version but other version is good to have also.
The Final Cut is brilliant album. I just wrote long piece about it and love it even more after the process.
Agree. Schellen is very one dimensional drummer. Capable but boring.
Indeed. Much stinkier turd than The Quest (which I in fact kind of liked) Billy Sherwood as a composer it not a solution for Yes's problems.
I have 88 albums from that list.
My first impression of this was very positive.
I strongly agree.
I would take slow symphonic crap over rehashed So anyday. I liked very much Gabriel's orchestral projects.
20 million albums? Kind of hard to believe.
Wikipedia.. yeah I have heard about it. I need to check that one out someday.
Btw. what does "5uu's" mean...?
I had few kind of background listenings of The Quiet in Your Bones and was little bit underwhelmed but I finally today got the opportunity to really to concentrate on the album... and wow... it is...
Not a big fan of this one. Some cool material but also some pretty weak stuff. Especially "Anonymus Two" is just waste of time.
Great album! I like it more and more each time I listen to it.
Well said. That has been my impression of Alan White also.
I am angry too. I like that one a lot... but now that I know there is no 'tron... I am just confused.
In other news: I bought new 5uu's today. First listen coming up tomorrow. It is probably good...
It was but now Wilson has revitalized it.
Maybe. Most artists however does not use such language about other bands as Wilson. It was ridiculous how provocative Wilson was in most interviews in the 90's.
And then Steven Wilson fanboys take major offence when his output gets even slight critique! :rofl
Somewhere To Elsewhere is better.
I saw Pineapple Thief few months ago in Helsinki. I am not huge fan of the band but the concert was very professional and enjoyable experience.
Cool song. Pretty mad stuff as was expected.
:lol
Oh I use Le Grand Sbam album Furvent for that.
Cool albums!
Btw. My number 11 is another brilliant canterburian album Walking Up That Valley by Needlepoint. Did you like that one?
...
It really is! In fact I ranked it as my the favourite album of the year :)
My top-10 of the 2021:

You are right. I am out. :)
New album by Yes? Yes please. Liked the previous one.
I have been listening lots of Manna/Mirage (The Muffins spin-off) lately. Nice blend of Canterbury style and avantprog. There is even song named "Canterbury Bells" on album Blue Dogs (2015). :)
So you are saying but where this behaviour can be seen?
That is like DEFCON 2? Right?
From Within has been my favourite Anekdoten album since it was released. Few subsequent album where little disappointing however. Until All the Ghosts Are Gone was quite nice return to form
I had to look up "gaslighting".
"Gaslighting is a colloquialism, loosely defined as making someone question their own reality.
The term may also be used to describe a person (a "gaslighter")...
Touché. :rofl
Makes me wonder what is the problem if his love just keeps getting stronger. I wouldn't block the "haters" in this scenario. :D
Finished listening this. Really inspiring stuff. I need to dig up my Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin CD's for a re-listen. I really like the song "New Jerusalem" that Stewart mentioned few times.
I thought that was pretty funny. You obviously did not. What can I say? You should probably block me.
Avant-binge of the week:
Henry Cow : Legend (UK, 1973) *****
Sarab : Arwah hurra - Ames libres (FR, 2021) ****
Fred Frith : Accidental (UK, 2002) ***½
Michel Edelin : Flutes Rencontre (FR,...
I think I have seen Anekdoten live 4-5 times. Most recent time was about 5 years ago. They were brilliant. Hopefully they do another record. Last one was pretty good.
What I insulted here? I even like THAT song! :D
And I happended to give very generous three and half stars to latest Yes album. https://pienemmatpurot.com/2021/10/14/levyarvio-yes-the-quest-2021/...
"I would have waited forever (forever)
There's no question about it at all"
I have listened about half so far. Good stuff! Thanks Sean!
Yeah but Clockwork Angels was the first good Rush album in decades. And I prefer Magnification. :)
There was recent interview where Fripp clearly stated that King Crimson will not continue without him.
Listened "Quills and All". Great stuff. Will buy the album. Even without physical memes.
I wish memes would available in physical format.
Yeah but THX 1138 is brilliant. Future Bites... not so. :)
There is also "Routine". Steven Wilson solo song cover! Double sweet!
Or make it work without guitarist. Drummer Guy Evans missed two gigs in Finland recently because of passport problems. Peter Hammill and Hugh Banton heroically played Van der Graaf Generator...
That would be right thing to do. Cancel and reschedule. Would you be ok with taped Anderson if he got covid just before the gig?
This is getting ridiculous.
Euro tour IS postponed to next year:
"It is with great disappointment YES announce that the logistical problems of arranging European tour dates for 2022, caused by the on-going pandemic, have...
I love this album as I love all Henry Cow albums. Rock or even progressive rock has not really progressed further than this since 40 years.
For all you Finnish readers out there here is my review...
I feel the same.
And yes, I have listened every TFK album since. At least once.
Great almost 2 hours long interview with Fred Frith from last year: https://youtu.be/3WsVHkSZkFM
Frith hints at one point there has been some discussion about new Art Bears album!
