No it was a joke re: how quiet the vinyl is on streaming :) But Lasers Edge does have much better price on the vinyl compared to Clamazon.

True :up
It does sound sourced from vinyl, which is weird. However it's a nice pressing and cart...pretty quiet considering!
Actually yes.
Yep I heard it too. Thought it was shitty Spotify but maybe its on all recordings? They need to straighten that out. Otherwise these are great remixes.
Yes good album. However I think I'm good with PT at this point, I'd like to see SW go somewhere he's never gone to, musically speaking.
Never heard of him....

A bar/measure only contains the value in the time signature, which is what were talking about. So 7/8 is one bar/measure containing 7 eighth notes, then the next bar will contain the same, etc. The...
There are changes everywhere. Virtually every song has been remixed, sometimes with a drastic change. You'll hear this stuff right away.
The bottom number is what type of note gets the beat in the measure (bar):
1 = whole note or 4 beats
2 = half note or 2 beats
4 = quarter note or 1 beat
8 = eighth note or 1/2 beat
16 =...
^ Not sure. These mixes are killer. Church of Your Heart is much improved and utterly different, but in the best of ways. This mix makes me want to keep listening to it. Nice job Mr Roine if you're...
Wow, I work in Poughkeepsie about three minutes from this place. I'll have to try and go.
I hit a bit of Garden of Dreams too....to my ears these new mixes are winners and definitely are superior to the old versions. They are not overly compressed either, which is a great thing.
Spun Stardust in the car this morning, skipping around. First impression is that the overall mastering is improved - its definitely less of an ear bleeder. The drums do seem beefier, although not...
Amazing! In!
New LP available in the states anywhere yet?
Starbucks and Flour Pour released today on streaming, etc.
Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Genesis - Lamb live (Archives I)
Popol Vuh - Hosianna Mantra
Copland - Short Symphony (Orpheus)
Listening to disc 2....The Lamb. Man, I really dig PGs "mature" voice on this. Hackett's solo in The Lamia is killer too.
I could listen to The Polite Force just about every day and be a jolly camper.
Yes they were smokin' on the tempi on those tunes. Same thing on YCDTOSA Vol. 2 (Helsinki) which was 22-23 Sept 1974. This Erie gig was November '74 so there 'ya go - same setlist and they knew these...
No.
I think I smell a half-speed vinyl craze about to happen. But my Marley and PG half-speed pressing do sound damn good, so maybe it's not total audio snake oil?
Tull is one of my fav bands ever, but I don't know if I'll like it at 1/2 speed - I think it may sound better at the regular speed. Although, maybe my wife and I can light a candle and slow dance to...
Sorry man - it was really a last minute thing. I wasn't even planning on going but my buddy almost forced me to, and I'm glad I did! It was the best TMB gig I've experienced. What's the Hackett gig...
It's amazing. Can you think of another artist that morphed the live tunes into something else altogether as much as FZ did? It's unbelievable how he could change the arrangement of so many pieces,...
It'll be nice to revisit these.
The Freak Out tracks on Erie are just incredible! Loving this set. Even without Ruth, the 74 gigs band was just on fire.
I've been spinning Neu! And Flammende Herzen this week....love love the vibe.
Do you have a link Ian? I can't find it
Saw it last night in Tarrytown, NY. Stunning performance and sound! This thing was captivating from soup-to-nuts. This was probably my fav MB gig I've ever seen out maybe 6 or 7 times now, and...
And a damn great one too :up
Tony Rice Manzanita - 1979
You can definitely hear crackles and pops on vinyl so you're getting yer money's worth there at least for that stuff.

Not exactly, um, flattering. :)
8 guitars? Wow...I suck at playing just one!
^ PS, forgot to mention that I'm going with the Hana SL. Sounds like what I'm after musically.
I'm sure - awesome man. My current Ortofon is a wonderful cart, its my first real cart. I just want a change and see if spending a bit more bread can get me closer to audio nirvana. Either way it'll...
Today/tonight:
Peter Gabriel - s/t
UZ - Ceux du dehors
Rush - Signals
This Heat - Deceit
Normal choices but damn good 'uns!
The last day you're in your 40's was weird for me...strange feelings are afoot.....afoo...af...af.af..af.a.a.a.a.a.............aa.....................................................a. Foot. Feet.
Looking to upgrade my Ortofon Quintet Red mc (0.5 mV)
Potential choices:
Hana SL mc (or HL mc?) (0.5 mV)
Ortofon Quintet Bronze mc (0.3 mV)
Ortofon 2M Black mm (5 mV) or 2M Black LBV 250 mm...
Happy 50th you olde Viking Bastard...mine was in April! I guess the diapers are next. :ipa
PG Security might be his best album...probably my fav. So many fine details, and his voice is just killer. Brilliant brilliant arrangements.
Just hit edit and repair it...
Sweet....!
Giant Guy playlist!
I think it's fabulous, but maybe just more texturally-based to my ears. It doesn't 'rawk' as much but it does take me to a different place, not unlike some Berlin-ish Krautrock. I think they both use...
Today's spinnage from the list:
This Heat - s/t
Peter Gabriel - Security
Happy the Man - Crafty Hands
Pretty, pretty, pretty, good.
That would be wonderful - they are amazing players.
In the midst of spinning Les Cinq Saisons and really enjoying it. I am not very familiar with this album but I know lots of dudes and dudettes dig it. "Dixie" seems a little....different :)....well...
^ Ivo is amazing.
Totally. And if you want to be more amazed at how he was able to play night after night with this intense technique, start perusing through their grueling schedule....its sort of unbelievable how he...
Never heard SBB either.
Wow, very nice!
One of these days I am going to erase all the tape in the world . . . In the world . . . world . . . Tomorrow I may do it . . . All the Frank Zappa Masters . . . Nothing . . . Blank . . . Empty . . ....
Me too last night...before I saw this :) '75 Virgin UK on vinyl. I love how fatt those synths get during the sequenced parts...sounds sooo damn good. Lights off, candles lit, drink in hand and buzz...
I'm going to have to track down some Kate Bush on LP.
I think the order is irrelevant imo, but rather the lot taken as a whole is what's so impressive. "Ranking" 200 albums in some coherent order is futile.
I did a search at PA for the top 200 albums made between 78 - 82, and the results are absolutely insane. We all know that we love the golden era (or eras), but just in these four years alone things...
Oh yeah! FZ masterpiece album. I have a gorgeous copy on LP.
