The Nice - The Immediate Collection
Zappa - You Can't Do that On Stage #2 - (just acquired after reading so many 5 star recommendations - bit disappointed on first listen, perhaps as it duplicates other albums I have)
T Rex - Best of...
^^^ It's up on UK Amazon
Contraband S/t
Zappa - 2000 Motels, Hot Rats
The Bruford Tapes
The first three Tyrannosaurus Rex albums have had a spin in the last day or so and right now I'm listening to Zeitgeist by Frank Wyatt and friends
I'm due to see the joint tour in December
Smile almost destroyed Brian Wilson.
I agree with the comment above. I haver read all the threads several times, discovered new bands and bought a good few albums as a result, including Gilgamesh, the Muffins Supersister, Henry Cow,...
^^^ Thank you.
Monet used to claim that all his paintings were done outdoors and that he didn't have a studio. And this is mostly true apart from the ones he painted in his studio.
They are playing near me next month - tempted to go...
Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin - Green & Blue and Star Clocks
Alongside Fairport, Steeleye Span, Lindisfarne and Tull the Strawbs are one of the great of folk rock in my book.
That goodness-in my ignorance-I bought the original mix!
Stackridge s/t, Sonny Condell- Swallows and Farms, Gilgamesh s/t
It's all a load of bullocks isn't it? :D
Keep On Crinting was my introduction to Man and agree it's excellent.
I loved Star Trek and still enjoy watching them. So much humanity runs through those stories. Sad news.
Great band. Freebird is just one of those songs! Got the old box set here and a few of the more recent things.
A question for whoever might know -re the first National Health album - I have the Decal cd from 1990 -does the Esoteric reissue have significantly improved sound?
The Muffins: Open City (newly arrived)
Scott Walker: Scott
Zappa: One Size Fits All
The Muffins; Manna /Mirage
I picked up a few of their albums a couple years ago -attracted by their more folky exploits. One of Wales' finest! Kevin Ayers fans I understand.
Daevid Allen's stuff with Planet Gong and New York Gong is a bit of a synthesis. Much of the work he did later has that attitude too.
Kahn: Space Shanty
Alan Stivell: Renaissance of the Celtic Harp
Spirits Burning & Clearlight: The Roadmap In Your Head
Caravan: s/t
Lovely to see :-)
Sultans of Swing.... cant think of any more.
Santana; Welcome
Planet Gong; Floating Anarchy
The Muffins: Double Negative
National Health; s/t
Beach Boys: Feel Flows (2cd version)
Theo Travis: Secret Island
Rocket Cottage is a great album - bought it when it came out but then rashly got rid of it when I was into punk and new wave. I put that right some years later. Have it on the 2nd 'parcel' box set...
Clearlight Symphony
Steve Hillage- Live Herald
Man - Live At the Padgett Rooms
I'm quite fond of the folk and country blues of Ian A Anderson (some say dropped by label at insistence of you know who) and if you start searching for the late UK folk singer Dave Evans (Words In...
My favourite is the second album too. Touch of Brian Wilson in some of the melodies - gorgeous.
I have enough trouble sorting my Dave Stewarts out..
Now on Feathers: Oh, I so wish we'd had more albums from that lovely band

In a rash act of 'the great and good on PE can't be wrong' I added another Cardiacs cd to my collection 'A Little Man And a House etc' -that one's starting to click I think...
Dylan Bootleg Series 16 : Springtime in New York (2cd version)
Some Happy the Man, Ozric Tentacles, Man and right now Donovan's Sunshine Superman.
Just picked up the Gong Live in Sherwood Forest 75 album. Very pleased with it. Mr Hillage in fine form.
Really pleased you folks enjoyed the song -I tried not to make it too specific, but of course I still bought the latest album...
^^^ thank you folks! And there was me googling Kabbalah symbolisms.
I have Gazeuse! and the two after - I may give give them a spin too soon- though I prefer the Daevid Allen era.
My Solstice binge ongoing with Steve Hillage - he sort of suits the season. 'L' this afternoon. I wonder what the symbolism of the letter is - surely not 'learner'....
^^^ Thank you!
I play a bit of entry level guitar and write and sing songs in folk clubs - not really PE material but I thought some of you might enjoy the subject matter of this song I wrote ...
I've started the day with a Real Ibiza chiillout compilation - first mixed one in fact - good soundtrack for a bit of yoga. There's quite an art to those compilations.
A Summer Solstice Egg-fest ongoing here!
I picked up their 70s cds after a Bowie phase when I was following the influences on his 'Berlin' period, as you do.
I don't hear the hit single.
Some Happy The Man and Nick Drake's Bryter Layter - he would have been 74 today...
Good old Kate-wonder if she's given up the cigarettes yet. (I nearly wrote fags)
I only bought one of those at the time (Renaissance) - and most were probably under my radar which was firmly fixed on the Jam, Clash, Vapors, Elvis Costello etc
Wind & Wuthering had the last brilliant album cover. Something went wrong thereafter.
Still on a Zappa binge; 'Make A Jazz Noise Here' today, some Indian Classical music this evening:-Raag Koushika by Rash Behari Datta. Tried some other albums in-between, but nothing seem to stick.
Zappa binge here - first 4 albums plus Sheik Yerbouti, One Size Fits All & Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar.
I do like the Progarchives - but their ranking system does create some anomalies. I can't see how Kind Of Blue can be identified as a top Jazz rock/fusion album
^^^ I really enjoy cd 2 of ZINY, obviously less keen on the humour on on the first part. Studio Tan was a pleasant surprise even though it was one I wanted to get. Mothers of Prevention has a good...
Very sad. Too young.
I've bought some more Zappa cds over the last week - Studio Tan, Meets the Mothers Of Prevention and In New York. It's the instrumental stuff I have grown to enjoy, as I find his humour of limited...
Great album. I remember Sylvia on Top Of the Pops! (I think) They have a perfect instrumentation to my ears -and I'm a sucker for flute!
Just picked up a copy of this in a charity shop- interesting! Agree with the comment from polmico about sounding like Daevid Allen - I thought it was a sample of him for a moment!!
