It still does to me aged 60, listening to that album when in the right frame of mind is like a sort of meditation and it still sounds different every time I play it.

It still does to me aged 60, listening to that album when in the right frame of mind is like a sort of meditation and it still sounds different every time I play it.
Well that would apply to all vinyl releases since the boom of cd and the subsequent resurgence of vinyl sales in recent years. People are not so worried about sound quality, its just nice to have...
^^^ Lol! I love Tales, that is top 3 for me along with GFTO and Relayer. Maybe it would be fair to say that Tales and Talk are diametrically opposed.
Isn't it strange? Talk is for me the most detested Yes album ever and yet you rate it with what are my faves too. We all hear different things that's for sure.
Heaven & Hell and The Mob Rules are my two fave metal albums
Hi fi mainly, also in the car. I use you tube, bandcamp and other free streamers to discover new music but for listening it's cd, vinyl, blu rays and downloads played via USB input on my marantz cd...
Talking of NAD, I got myself a fully restored and repaired 3020 today, it looks as good as new and sounds wonderful.

The more you think about it wasn't it amazing that Prog was so successful and sold millions in the first place?
RIP Steve Harley, an icon of my youth.
It used to be a great thing but they stopped because they ran out of material to remaster.
Anyone else listening to the new album? I think it's my fave BBT album ever, really loving it.
If we're looking at the same thing then I would say these paintings are very similar to many that have already been used for Yes.
Having played the album a couple more times I'm really loving The Likes of Us now. Great songs, a new great voice, superb playing and production, this gets a big thumbs up from me. Best tracks The...
All of that was irrelevant apart from Number 4 to my lived experience here in the UK where Punk actually started.
1. Boston, Foreigner etc were not that popular here like they were in the US.
2. We...
The title track featuring James LaBrie?? :O
Punk sold a fraction of what Prog did and died out after about a year. The result? 80's synth pop and the 'New Romantics' of Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet. That really worked didn't it?
Those two ignorant interviewers are David Hepworth and Mark Ellen, they were the guys who made Smash Hits & Q Magazine (here in the UK) big successes in the 80's and who were the sort of media...
Yep, I really don't like Oblivion and I'm struggling to like the album, it doesn't make me want to play it again...we'll see..
This would appear to be part two of the video series

I think The Last Eleven is my fave too, I have yet to be moved by Beneath The Masts yet sadly.
That is pretty ironic considering Blondie were part of the new wave sweeping the 'rock dinosaurs' away :lol
Video version of one of those above

Agree 100%. It's a beautiful pastoral song reminding me of the glow of summers past.
This long interview with Greg was linked in the band's newsletter sent yesterday and is well worth a read of you want to understand all the sentiments behind the songs. I got the cd today and sat...
I stumbled upon this new video on the Inside Out channel this morning - wow, anyone else heard them before?

Having a first listen online right now, sounds very promising. I don't like Oblivion (an NDV song?) so I'll be skipping that but the rest sounds beautiful. Hopefully my cd will arrive tomorrow...
I just cannot bear to watch/listen Rick's murdering of Yes songs - cringe.
Yep, you might be able to get it on Amazon too, I was referring to FD's shop/website which is in the UK for us not in the US.
I agree it sounds very much like an FD album rather than an IB album. Indeed one of the tracks Man Overboard is also on one of Frankie's solo sets. I've had the CD for a couple of weeks now and I do...
I like this one the best

You'll never stop a Yes thread - 64 pages after 13 months - not bad!
Maybe we should start speculating about the next album ;)
Oh wow, Phil has put in incredible service to Kansas, wishing him all the best for a quick recovery.
Poor old Yes.
Also there's a new Bass Communion release featuring Theo Travis
https://basscommunion.bandcamp.com/album/thief-of-snow-1999
Next conceptual album in the works, comprising 2 20 minute tracks and tour in 2025.

Fabulous interview, she is amazing
I actually like the cover but the album is not for me. I can hear that it's good in parts but many people are saying it's his best or one of his best which baffles me to be honest.
This is certainly picking up many great reviews all over the place. Anyone got it yet?
This guy sums it up

And another Epica

Do Epica count? - to my ears they are truly Prog Metal

Maybe he'll being back the death metal growls ;)
Really looking forward to a new Opeth album especially with Ian's flute.

Thanks, will give them a go.
^^ Thanks, I had never heard that one before, another album to check out.
My fave TPT song

I had their early albums Variations On A Dream and 137 back about 20 years ago. Ultimately I got bored with them, one or two really good songs but the rest is just trying to be as good but ends up ...

Thanks for the review, from what we've heard so far the music still has the same character.
Some great pics here:

Good to see Pendragon second on the bill behind Hackett - would love to be there.
No confusion here, I was referring to a live version of one of the new tracks from last months tour. The live set from last year I think is very good although the sound on the Blu Ray could have been...
Yeah I saw a live track on Youtube which I wasn't that keen on, making me wonder whether to get it now.
Meanwhile, I just saw an update on Instagram. Frankie's website went down meaning that they...
Well I have given up on my order for the new It Bites cd direct from Frankie at Capricorn Farm. No response to my email or to posts on Instagram. I paid by Paypal so have just requested a refund....
I'm trying to think of the last time a well known prog rock band used a 'name' outside producer. Maybe Yes with Heaven & Earth and Fly From Here. There might be others?
Very sorry to hear this, RIP Janine, all the best to Steve & family.
and this too.
