I thought he was lead singer of an instrumental prog band.
Unofficial word is now that the two bands have agreed to both change names to Maybe and Possibly with Jon Anderson.
Cattle Prog was the brainchild of Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock editor Fred Trafton. I believe he lost a bit of money doing it and ended up downscaling to more frequent smaller prog gigs...
Signals was hardly a move away from mainstream friendly. More of a let's cop the sound of The Police and see if that gets us more airplay. :)
Really? Judging from your avatar I would have thought you prefered a companion less obtrusive. :)
Happy Zee Man - Service with a Smile
This is most likely working on a convolution principal. It is redrawing the sound wave almost in realtime. The principal has been around since about the early 90s or so. It used to be really...
I have the c9 and Key9. while the Key9 does sound more guitar like it sounds way different than my guitars, and the way it soaks up effects is quite a bit different too. I have had a lot of luck...
Herd of Instinct - Manifestation (Firepool Records)
Any day now I'm told

I find dead guys tend to underplay.
98 percent of the time.
Bacteria may evolve over decades. Recent studies suggest a human population can change in as little as a hundred years.
Check back around 2060. ;)
Hmmm, I'd classify that as sophmoric. But. Still...
Worst. Title. Evar.
This album is a desert island disc for me with Kate Bush's Hounds of Love, and CTTE rounding out my top three.
Burn their children's laughter.
Ambrosia is the one that had Kurt Vonnegut for a lyricist. ;)
This ain't rock n roll! This is Genisi...
The most spell binding solo acoustic performance I ever saw was by Phil Keaggy during a short intermission at a Glass Harp concert. Might have been down to mind expansion, but the audience encored...
Page ten and no one has mentioned Kansas yet?
I'd wait. The rumor is that the new ipad pro is going to run Logic. If that is true, it's most likely where they have been putting all their programming resources.
Wi-fi enabled TV! Oh, you crazy kids with your new fangled inventions!
Many Stick players swear this isn't true, but most Warr Guitarists feel the extra mass does indeed change the tone. The Warr guitar sounds more like a regular electric bass and guitar. The Stick has...
That's the Phalanx model which is meant to be played uncrossed. This one has 7 bass and 7 treble strings. Both tuned in fourths. The advantages? You can more easily play two different parts at a...
Someone already mentioned Herd of Instinct, though they might lean a bit too eclectic to match what you seem to be looking for. The Herd's warr guitarist Mark Cook put out a project with drummer Bill...
Is the clip you have available online?
I wouldn't ever be able to remember where I put the collectable laminate!
Or go duke it out in the chat room. You're boring the Opeth fans to death.
Shouldn't you put the name of the city in your thread title? Only a small subset of people seeing your thread title are going to know where the concert is. Some people near Philadelphia may see it...
I was also lucky enough to be invited to Monday night's pre-show. Nice to meet you, Haruspex! (I came with Mark & Mike)
Having attended the first 2008 show in Nashville (which rocked) I thought this...
Tell that to the artists who actually design the award. :D
Just talking concert experiences actually. But, Songs and Horses I do rate as highly as all their classic stuff.
You so silly. Unicorns don't talk. (While Jon is singing)
After calling out Bob Fripp.
Glascock Tull over Hammond-Hammond.
Which is exactly why I mentioned Hansson. When I listen to LOTR, it strikes me as the spiritual fore bearer of all the modern melalcholy Scandinavian stuff.
Does Bo Hansson's Lord of the Rings count?
Nice 80's crim, Talking Heads, gamelan, African pop vibe. (With nods to St. Vincent?) :)
25 years? I'm thinking he pulled that number out of his a...
Hat.
Not the same quality level. Higher. :)
Ben Craven "Great and Terrible Potions" if I remember correctly. Spot on description. Nice. Reminiscent of Yes. But, all the more impressive for being a one man band project.
Rabin, Levin, Davison, Moraz, Gavin Harrison (since Bruford is retired).
Fades in each note with a volume pedal.
Hands is still around. They don't work real fast though. Warr guitarist Mark Cook told me he has been doing tracks for a new album on and off for the last couple years.
Yeah, the bass player (actually a multi instrumentalist who is more than competent on accordian and vocals) has been a super model since age 16. Already in oher established groups. Filthy rich. I'm...
HOI are located in Dallas! I produced their first album, play Warr guitar, and live near Charlotte, but believe me it's a long drive. :)
To be honest, this concept was tried before by Sound of...
Lol. I think maybe you are mixing me up with HOI's Warr Guitarist Mark Cook. I did produce their first album, and actually played a little Warr guitar and bass on it. But, I am more of a hobbiest....
If I was only going to have two, those would be them.
Reflections from the Firepool is a classic!
Both of these favor their ambient mellow side. Their other side is more of a KC channeling the Allman Brothers (Eat a Peach era) peel the paint off the walls type of vibe. :)
Or the Heavy Soul Sessions. Live in the studio greatest hits album from a couple years back. Mike Murray's debut. Great album.
Perhaps you're slightly smarter than the average music press person. ;)
Devouring
Reflections from the Firepool
New Dark Age
But, really you could just randomly buy any three of their albums, and you'd be guaranteed to have some great music!
(Disclosure: they are...
Congrats! Looking forward to it!
Dave
What I always wondered: Is the Siberian variety the rarest or the most common type?
Number one on the Gagliarchives top twenty most requested this week. Not real flashy, but it grows on you.
Glad you like it, Bo. I'd say it's lighter than HOI and heavier at the same time. It swings a bit more between the two extremes, where Herd spends more time in the middle. You're not going to get bar...
Unquestionably!
Great article. Well, except for that embarrassing revelation about civil war re-enactment! :D
Had no idea this project involved members of Secret Oyster. Really good stuff!
Totally Kick-A.
