I think it's their best yet and every track is a real gem. The 5.1 mix is also superb. imho Rob is easily as good as SW at surround mixes and this one really stands out.

I was lucky enough to play test the 5.1 surround mix of this album and imho It's Rob's best surround mix to date. It's also released in DTS 24/96 (previous Magenta albums were DD only) and sounds...
This is the double album version of English Electric Parts 1 and 2, complete with four additional tracks. An EP with the additional tracks will also be released for those who already have parts 1...
The BluRay 5.1 is a staggeringly good surround mix.
An exceptional album by a top, top band. If you only have the original cyclops release then the Kscope re-mix/re-master is well worth acquiring. Bruce and Steve did an incredible job with all of...
As the good Dr. states above the three releases were all impacted by the Warner take over. No definitive word from Warner (at least not that I have seen.) Wilson himself stated several months ago...
No confirmed info on formats but I'm 99% certain it won't be SACD. Much more likely to be DVD-A as per the King Crimson releases. BluRay would be very nice, though...
Try the Norwegian band "Airbag"

They started out doing Floyd covers but there own material is very mellow and retains that Gilmour guitar sound. Identity is...
I have it on very good authority that a new stereo and 5.1 surround hi res remix of Close to the Edge has been done by Steven Wilson for release in October. I haven't been this excited about a 5.1...
Agree entirely on all points. It's a truly excellent album.
They're playing some of it live at the Kscope event in London in a few weeks time :)
"Remember the Future" and "Journey to the Centre of the Eye" are also both available on Hybrid SACD with a surround sound mix on the SACD layer. Rare as rocking horse shit, but well picking up if...
I know there are a number of Pineapple Thief and Katatonia fans on this site so just in case you don't know, the long awaited collaboration between Bruce and Jonas shipped this week!
I'm...
Shame they didn't mention the 5.1 mix, which is rumoured to be one of SW's best to date, but great article and great publicity for Esoteric and Cherry Red who have worked exceptionally hard to carve...
I've listened to all three quite a lot and seen them several times in concert. I prefer Karnataka and Panic Room, but The Reasoning have a lot of loyal fans too. The "new" Karnataka don't have any...
I remember Steven Wilson mentioning this in an interview last year and have been waiting patiently for the pre-order and here it is!
...
imho his is the easiest way to find out if you will like BBT:

I'm sure I read somewhere that Tony Iommi had an audition?
Wait.... no; I just made that up.
No. It's the other way around. I stopped taking them seriously because (using Howe's words) " I don't know how we did it back then. It doesn't work the same way now." - ie they lost their ability...
No worries! :) They were my favourite band for about 30 years and I still listen to their old material. But since I discovered that there are so many other bands putting out new, high quality Prog I...
Nov 2012. Didn't you read the interview on the link in the first post on this thread?
That's a really sad statement from Steve Howe; he's effectively admitting that Yes have turned into their own tribute band. They used to be my favourite band but I stopped taking them seriously...
I was lucky enough to be involved in the play test of the 5.1 surround mix of this album and have three points to make:
First; it's easily the best album that Nosound have released to date with...
Some more info on this: Besides CD the package includes an NTSC 16:9, Region Free DVD with 5.1 surround high definition 24bit/96kHz, stereo high definition 24bit/96kHz (DVD-A) plus DTS, Dolby Digital...
A quick heads-up for this. K'Scope are taking pre-orders for the next Nosound album, "Afterthoughts"
Those of you that have heard them will know how good they are already. Those who haven't...
Mine's ordered already! I haven't been this excited since the Wizard blew his horn!
My CD copy arrived this morning. Played it about four times already! :) ...it's going to be another repeat-player. The overall standard is very high (as you would expect) but there are several...
Congratulations to Big Big Train for "English Electric Part 1" being voted best album 2012. Well deserved imho. Somewhat surprised It Bites "Map of the Past " and Galahad's "Battlescars" don't rank...
I rate this as one of their best. I guess it may be that "moment in time" effect where what was happening and the circumstances at the time cast a rosy glow over it but for me it just shines.
Brilliant! Thanks for the heads-up! :)
I've had this for a couple of weeks now and after getting used to it I really enjoy it. The orchestral and choir arrangements/recording are, imho, simply stunning. The female vocalist takes a bit...
I just listened to the 5.1 DTS mix and really enjoyed it ...thought it was very tastefully done.
