^ I would think Bob Dalton on drums and possibly Lee Pomeroy on bass...the Map of the Past line-up.
^ Part of your preference has to be Steve and Alan being 10 years younger than today. Chris > Billy, Oliver maybe slightly better than Geoff, Jon D. a wash with Benoit.
AFAIK, only available via Amazon and the band's website.
John M. tweeted sometime ago that he and John Beck are writing for a new IB album. He said the contract's been signed (I think it's part of the re-issues deal), so they have to. lol
He was obviously important in the band's revitalization, but to my ears, the sound was a tad too guitar heavy. Assuming they stay in the classic 6-piece configuration, my hope is any new material...
This latest track "Hypersonic" was specifically written to be one of those million-notes-a-minute tracks, which I do enjoy in the overall context of an album. I will say that the track does have...
Those that ordered signed CDs are still waiting as the inserts had to be sent around the U.K. for signatures. JY said they s/b going out this week.
^Thanks!
You commented on every track except "Liquid Evolution." What's that one like?
Looking forward to the camples.
They just released a video today from "Beating the Odds," the second song they wrote. It's upbeat and melodic. YMMV.
I'm pretty sure the Rudess version on YT is the leaked studio version midipiano part only, no other keys or instruments. One may think this is boring/self-indulgent, but it's there though...
There's a teaser video on Youtube with excerpts from the first two tracks. Unfortunately, I don't know how to copy/paste a link.
There was a press blurb that said of the 8 new tracks, 4 are composed, one is the Rhapsody in Blue cover, 2 are duets and one is a jam. Portnoy said this was the same as on the first two releases.
Not a fan of the two tracks released so far and wasn't a huge fan of Skyscraper Souls (narration? ugh). I strongly prefer the vibe on the first two releases...a "retro" sound with Linn drum machine...
Excited!
IIRC, Steve Hackett was to add some guitar.
Release date for CD and download now December 7th. Vinyl will be late January/early February.
MP3 will be the default download, but you can request FLAC.
The track list for the new cd Altitude was announced today. Release date target is December 1st.
1) Altitude 15:18
2) Gregarious 4:38
3) Ivory Tower 7:42
4) Shoreline 7:38
5) Fortitude 10:07...
I think this parts I and II version was only played live in Europe. I saw the 1982 tour twice in NA (Minneapolis and Chicago) and IIRC, the version played was only part I.
Greetings,
Lifesigns is in the process of recording their new (and third) studio CD "Altitude" and has started a pledge campaign via their website (www.lifesignsmusic.co.uk) to fund its recording....
AFAIK, Zoltan doesn't sing. As for Frosty's background vox, while he did sing, you can tell a lot of the harmonies are canned, which the band freely admits (see their DVD credits).
It was announced today that Zoltan has joined Lifesigns, replacing original drummer Frosty Beedle, who announced his departure officially earlier this week. The band is currently writing/recording...
^The Sea Within will be released in late June, the 22nd?
I think what's missing are the writing/arranging/singing talents of John Beck. While he does provide keyboards, his involvement this time is more "window dressing" than at the ground level. As...
Hope they find another space in the city...
I'll Just Pick
Thankfully, Trevor removed those irritating acoustic guitar finger sliding "squeaks" from "Sad Night..."
^Petrucci has been on every album. Not sure where you think he wasn't on their third (Awake?).
Yes, main floor all GA/standing at the Vic. It was crowded, but not packed. There was plenty of room in front of the sound desk. One nice thing about the Vic is that they have railings at the...
As for Jordan's ability to play fast piano besides "ragtime," check out his tune "Interstices" from his solo cd "Feeding the Wheel." It's nothing but piano in a many styles, with plenty of fast...
After 3 or 4 listens, I'm left underwhelmed. The first half of the cd is good, but the second half is bland. What's up with all the cheesy/lame spoken word bits? Definitely my least favorite of...
I think it's around the 17:50 mark. I don't really hear it, but YMMV.
One of my CEW III lines:
"First of all, Winchesters don't sweat, we perspire. Second, we don't perspire."
The banner was originally something on their touring van back in the 70s designed by their late roadie Twiggs.
As for a DVD this tour, I've read the two shows in Boulder will be filmed/recorded.
My dad is 84 and looks/sounds much better than Alan. I don't think Alan is even 70. : (
I believe Tony is playing on all dates. As for all or part(s) of the show, I'm unsure.
To my ears, sounds like Lonely Robot with some John Beck window dressing. Not bad, not great. I did read there's a 10-minute track penned by Pete on the cd.
Actually, Pete was quite involved with Picture.
Bring on the camples!
Autobuy!
Allan Sloan (Dregs' violinist) left the band in 1981 to become an anesthesiologist.
CDs
Tyler Warren plays percussion, does backing vox and plays "some" drums for Queen + Lambert as Roger Taylor plays most of the drums with help from his son.
Maybe one of these guys can replace Neil? ; )
I like the Unsung Heroes cover.
Unsung Heroes
Dregs of the Earth
Yes, Jon Poole's work on Cardington is great. His bass is at times meaty, punchy, supple and sinewy. My only quibble with the cd is that the background vox aren't quite as lush/sweet as on the...
Andy Sturmer (I think that's his name) from Jellyfish sang and played drums standing when I saw them.
Is Andy still based in California or did he and Susan move back to Blighty?
Tom was not a fan of his dad, to say the least.
Bring on the camples!
I think Squire once said he and Alan recorded the bass/drums 3 or 4 times for this album. I think they started recording in Italy with Horn, but he and Rabin weren't getting along, so they decamped...
Actually, it's a pretty good forum.
Downloads available today (9/15) at Amazon and iTunes.
I think Dave is the fourth(!) original member to have passed. : (
Per JY, cds, vinyl and t-shirts are all in production and should be going out on or about September 1st.
Mazza sounds more like Walsh than Walsh.
