Totally agreed. I think that would have made a big difference on how it was perceived.
I remember at the time in 2009, Fripp said he couldn't find anything to improve on the original mix of Red, and that's why they would not do it. But in 2013, when they released the "Road to Red" box,...
Totally agreed. I really got nothing from those two tracks, they're incredibly bland. KTA2 is much, much better, even though I don't really rate it very highly either. Best '90s Yes album for me is...
Wow, incredible! They nail every detail. Jon sounds amazingly similar to how he did back then. Really impressive.
Absolutely agree regarding Mind Drive. It starts really great, then it gets totally boring. There's some killer Wakenam solos though, near the end, but it doesn't really make up for all the bland...
Good to know. I remember trying to play that CD-ROM a few years ago and it didn't work.
Problem is, that Talk CD-ROM uses old technology like Quicktime and (I think) Flash, which are not supported anymore. I doubt you'd be able to play it on a modern PC, even if you have a CD-ROM drive.
Wow! Amazing, thanks for sharing!
I went through the exact same thing here is Brazil in the 90s and early 2000s, and I think you're spot on, espacially on (c).
Isn't Kaye only credited on Hammond Organ? And I can hear it all over the place, so there's plenty of Kaye on this album. The rest of the keys, including piano and synths, are all Rabin though.

To me that sounds like real brass too. Love that song!
The music is really great, but to whoever had the idea of adding mid-range filter and distortion to Hammil's vocals, come on... that's sacrilege!
Thanks Marco, that is really nice! Congratulations!
Now, back to the very unlikely connections topic (such as Lula Cortez/Popol Vuh), this has always reminded me of Univers Zero in some ways:

Speaking of Casa das Maquinas, they have also reformed around 10 years ago with my fellow bassist from Mahtrak, Fabio Cesar on bass. The band is still going by the way, but he left a couple of years...
A real classic! (well at least down here... :p). I love how he shuffles the lyrics from one verse to the next.
But my favourite of his is probably this one. Listen to the harmonic progressions......
Thanks, that means a lot to me, as I highly respect your tastes and really enjoy reading your posts here!
The rule is very simple really... Marcelo will release anything he likes, and he does...
They actually have a second CD, but I never heard it. The only reason I know it exists is because they're on the same label as I am, and there was some confusion with the catalog numbers on my latest...
I don't want to sound patronizing, but you guys realize Mayan culture has absolutelly nothing to do with Brazil, right? :)
Me too... [emoji3]
A good album, but I think it's overrated due to its rarity.

About Som Imaginario, Matança do Porco really is their masterpiece, but the first two are very psychedelic in a similar vein to Modulo 1000, and very worth checking out.
Both are great, but I still prefer their second album. In any case, you can't go wrong starting with either of them.
I guess you didn't understand progmatist's point in the previous post. It is physically impossible to produce a brickwalled vinyl, it simply won't play. So you can be entirely sure that any vinyl...
Please don't! The loudness wars are finally over, nobody won, and lots of ears got hurt in the process... :p
In any case, if you still want to do it (and all joking aside, there are valid reasons...
That's kind of the idea behind the Kawai K3. It has a programmable digital waveform, which means you can additively create a new waveform by selecting the levels of each individual harmonic, and then...
Listening now on Bandcamp, I like it! Reminds me a bit of Modulo 1000...
Being myself a fellow Brazilian Prog artist, I thought I might add my 2 cents here from my own experience.
Not...
Sure, but that's a Greg Lake song... :)
I saw them play in Rio de Janeiro once, when I was there for a business trip. They were only playing ELP pieces on that occasion. It was a quite nice evening!
Awesome! I just wish I could understand what these guys are saying...
I have two works up on bandcamp:
http://mahtrak.bandcamp.com/
http://perspectivevortex.bandcamp.com/
The drummer for Perspective Vortex is a professional musician who lives from music only. He...
Disco Volante is pure genius, their best album by far. Now, for their earlier "Thrash Metal" material (which seems it's what they are doing now), I really don't care...
Now this... I had no idea this even existed!

What's really interesting to me is how they developed the classic Supertramp sound so quickly right after the Indelibly Stamped album. In 1972 they were already playing those classic songs from Crime...
Looks like someone uploaded the whole thing... Just found School as well as next suggestion in the Youtube List. This Youtube algorithm is really on a roll today... :D
...
And... there's Dreamer as well...

WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Somehow this just showed up on my Youtube Recommended Videos list!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isidtOxX7Cc
Hurry up before they take it down! :D
I have a bootleg recording of that track in MP3, which I downloaded a very long time ago. The sound is completely awful, and I haven't heard it in ages, but from what I remember it's not really a...
Yes, that was a BBC session with the Indelibly Stamped band, but with Dougie Thomson on bass. They were already playing Rudy and Dreamer back then. This showed up on YouTube a few years ago, but I...
Just a small correction here. According to Richard Palmer, all the songs were written by Rick Davies, then Roger Hodgson added the vocal melodies and Richard Palmer only wrote the lyrics. Oh, and...
A bit late to the discussion, and I see you have already published your page. As far as I can see, you managed to do it correctly. Actually Bandcamp is quite easy. When you upload an audio file you...
I'm a huge fan, but those don't do much for me... from his more recent work I much prefer Singularity and Thin Air. But before getting into those, he should listen to The Future Now/PH7/Black Box if...
Yes, that was really great! It really adds a lot of tension to that last chorus. It's also a nice nod to what Keith Tippet was doing in Cat Food. The mellotron also works really well during the...
Yes, that is true. But my point was that, even if people do not buy your CDs because they can't play it, you will still sell a lot more downloads if you have released a CD than if you haven't. The...
This could be a factor. I know from first hand experience that the minute you upload something on bandcamp it almost instantly shows up for download at a bunch of Russian torrent websites. I believe...
Oh, definitely! And his recent book on Kew Rhone is probably the best thing I've read in quite a while...
Good choice!
Excellent choice! ;)
Coincidence or not, those were the first two that came to my mind...
Haha, fair enough...:) Just keep in mind complex does not necessarily always mean difficult... You can come up with lines that are not that difficult to play by themselves but in the overall...
Thank you, that's very kind!
Yes, he's a great drummer! And a very good sight reader as well... for the 22 minute piece, for example, I have written all the drum parts and he recorded them while...
Definitely. I don't think he would have been able to figure this out on his own. From the interview I get the impression he got some tips from Vangelis on that, because he specifially mentions he...
The keyboard work on Olias (and not only the keyboards) is too amateurish to have been performed by Vangelis. I can see the similarities in the sound, but the execution is just not up to Vangelis'...
I don't think so, even in the installation package there is no pdf. The help menu from the software redirects you to those same web pages.

Reaper is a really good option, I tried it for a while and really like the flexibility. But it took me a while to figure out some basic stuff, like sending effects to another bus, setting up VST...
That's pretty much how any DAW works. You arm your tracks, press record and go!
Ableton Live is the exception because it is made for live performance. I once installed the lite version which came...
Yours should arrive by end of next week.
You have to be patient, mail from Brazil to US is probably being delivered by mules. Here's what I got when I typed your tracking number:
...
Thank you so much for that!
And indeed, it does go into all sorts of different directions. When in a band, things tend to be more homogeneous because you need to find a common denominator. But...
:D
Come on, I've heard your music, and you're certainly no slouch!
For the few of you who enjoyed the Mahtrak CD, you might want to know I have just released a new album. More details at:

Hi, for those of you who enjoyed the piece I posted here, you might want to know I have just released a new CD which contains this track. More details at:

In case any of you were wondering about what happened to Mahtrak (probably not), I have just released a new CD which is kind of a solo project, but including some very special guests. Here you can...
