I'm not sure what other surprises they can throw at us, since they keep saying Relayer isn't likely? Originally I thought they could feature more off the first 3 albums (w/ Tony Kaye guesting) - or...
In all the years I've been going to see Yes concerts, this has to be the 1st time they are kicking off the US/NA tour in Chicago-land. Is hitting the 1st night of the tour a good/bad thing - will we...
Let's hope it happens this time...he said the same thing 2 or 3 years ago & Yes ended up playing elsewhere in Chicago instead.
Wasn't last years answer something like "we try to play each region every other year"...apparently for middle America it is now every 3rd (or 4th) time around?
Only 2 DVD's in this current box. I think the 1st DVD is the same thing you get in the Earthbound 40th anniversary (EB expanded 12 track & Summit Studios new stereo/quad mixes), then the 2nd DVD is...
A ‘cliffsnotes’ answer would be as follows:
The Blu-rays of the 3 studio albums contain more bonus/alternate versions than the CD’s, plus the needle-drops;
The CD’s contain 13 live shows;...
Usually the bonus/download shows are of a lesser/lower quality & therefore deemed 'not worthy' of making it onto the actual box set Cd/DVD/BR media.
Another enjoyable review, as always! It sure makes me want to pull the trigger on this box...
Has there ever been a better explanation of what happened to the Fripp/Sinfeild team, other than...
I cant wait to read the full review! The track-listing is rather extensive!! I copied it into a Word document and have been expanding it (numbering tracks, etc.) disc by disc; it's 16 pages & still...
At least four... the box includes the 2-disc 40th anniversary Earthbound (CD/DVD), plus you get the same content on BluRay, plus you get the actual (3 or 4) 'full' shows that most of the Earthbound...
Both CD16 and BR22 list "Groon - Peoria (incomplete);" as one track. Am I reading it right? was Peoria an improv that grew out of Groon??
if it's the same as Detroit '71 (KCCC#18), then it was a very short version of the song.
Thank you - this is great!! Now to digest this all....
When YES_original & original_ASIA merge in the next year or two, THEN Roger will Photoshop the dragon unto this cover ( and make the sky yellow or blue) :cool
At the pace they are going, there wont be time for a 2nd...
Thanks!!
Where do you see this, I still get regular (full) prices come up - do you need a special code?
I thoroughly enjoyed Monday's nights show! This was only the 2nd time I've seen Jobson play live & he was amazing. I don't think he did a violin solo back in 2012 when they kicked off the trio tour...
Looks like Eddie needs to add a drummer & make this an 'electric' show??? ...I got my tickets for Chicago, btw.
OK, but that was over a decade ago. I thought maybe there had been some more recent developments on the matter that I had missed.
Are there any links out there regarding the Downes/Payne relationship or lack there of? I guess I'm not remembering any specifics on this matter...
What were you expecting? I'm no expert on Billy's live lead vocal abilities, but the vocals sound as I imagined they would.
I was pretty much expecting (fearing) this...but I did think they would do An Extraordinary Life as you stated.
Downes tweeted the other day that pretty much everything both bands are playing was...
Fragile. It has the "ultimate" Yes sound to me. Heart of the Sunrise is to me the perfect example of a prog-rock song if I had to pick one from any group.
Your older than me (51), I guess getting up for work at 5 am for half my life has taken its toll...recovery from a late night takes longer than it used too!
True! But I wish it were on a weekend...when you get to certain age, being up half the night loses it's appeal.
btw - I see Reggies has listings up for Progtoberfest III, has this already been...
Are you the doctor in the fear-of-the-dark song? Nice story. Thanks for sharing!
Like so many others, I feared this day was coming. Wetton was my musical hero. It's a very sad day.
RIP John & thank you for the music!
I originally heard the first 5 tracks plus 'Barren Land' on a CDR well over a decade ago, BL was the Howe demo version, not with Wetton on vocals. About a year ago(?) somebody posted the above demo...
Greg Lake was one of my first prog heros; probably cause his songs were more accessible and helped me ease into the world of progressive rock. I enjoyed Lucky Man & KE9 long before I even knew what...
I also ordered multiple items (already got them last month), but this KC box was the priciest item on my order & they charged 'extra' shipping for the box.
I got 2 more emails from them overnight...1st one said item was out of stock & my order was being cancelled (again?? - LOL), then the 2nd email refunded my purchase price, but they failed to refund...
Same here. I ordered mine on Sept 10th.
Hasn't something like this happened before (& discussed here) with amazon or some place where they honored their erroneous price?
Agreed. That is what I thought on my first two listens...however it has grown on me since. I really liked the "true to original' version I heard back in 2014; that is what I was hoping for on this...
Hope this works....just page down to the last 3 dates (with links)
So is the special edition only available from DGM / burning shed? I have only seen the regular version on other online store listings.
The Bruford factor is certainly one theory (egos, success & dislike for one another is another). I think they were just at their creative peak during those 3 albums. The production (on Fragile &...
FWIW - at Saturday nights show, there were 2 separate groups of "kids" in the 2 rows in front of me. They were totally into the concert - doing the whole clap-along & standing up during songs thing...
What were you people expecting? Surely not Tales Or Relayer with Rabin & Wakeman, right? I'll be happy with almost anything that hasn't been played to death over the past 30 years...
my guess: they were the SAME demos, hence no new ARW music..? ;)
Good point! In hindsight, this was the beginning of the end...? LOL
Did ELP switch record labels/distribution again? This looks like the same (Jakko J. mix) package from a year or 2 back?
After about 13 spins, you will achieve a Tramalon daze & start liking it! ;)
All kidding aside, I seem to have settled in on the 4 longest tracks being my favorites (although most could stand an...
Like many others, this was my first KC album...however it was quite a shock to the system for me. Other than The Night Watch (song), it tooks years (maybe decades) for me to come around on this one....
It's good to hear that Alan's surgery went well. But I have to admit, I too am curious to hear Yes with a different drummer. Other than Dylan Howe, was there another drummer 'expected' to take the...
Interesting edit...I wish this was on my CD.
Likewise. I've been focusing in on the last 4 tracks since yesterday. I'm digging the vibe on the first 3 minutes of 'Know..' and the instrumental break half way through that song.
I enjoyed his rant from about the 4:57 mark ... he didnt like it much.
I pretty much agree with this ^^ (although I DO very much like Jon in classic Yes) and everyone else who has said it's...
Yes, yes! but "re-imagined" with some better "ide-ers"
Didn't Anderson mention Perpetual Change a while back...I'd be happy with that one.
I would love to see Howe do that as well (and let the YES name be retired), but I'm sure its a case of easier said than done! Not only would the promoters "want" to call it YES, but would Howe be...
At this point Yes wasn't writing prog 'epics' anymore. I thought many of the 'Paris session' tracks had potential...they just sounded rather unfinished.
My on-screen functions still do not work on my Sony; I was only able to tell what mix was playing by looking at my Onkyo receiver display & it showed tiny little symbols that I could barely make out....
August 21, Riverside Theater, Milwaukee
I wish Downes would add more of his own style to the old stuff ("Buggle" it up, so to speak), but that's just me.
I'm hoping they can pull off the DRAMA stuff, that is why I am planning to go! I...
FYI - this KBFH CD does include a version of Pirates that is 'missing' from the Works Live.
Jordrok - Anglagard
^ This!! Thanks for saying it so concisely.
I always presumed RF was sharing these earnings with his fellow past & present crimson band mates, DGM folks, etc., no?
