I spent New Year's Eve of 1975-76 listening to Triumvirate's "Spartacus" album. I kept playing it over and over again. A little later, Aphrodite's Child's "666" seemed apropos.

Moonchild is way too long. I agree for the first 2.5 minutes, it's great. After that, they needed another song to fill in with.
IQ Harvest of Souls, yes indeedy.
You know what-you're right. I remember that it was a '56 strat. 1964 was just my favorite year in general and got my reference pics mixed up. Take a dollar out of petty cash.
I really love this singer from Quidam. They do a nice little "firth of fifth" diversion in the guitar solo as well. As for the non-prog female singers, I like Tara VanFlower with Lycia, Autumn's Grey...
Thanks!
Every single piece down to the last nut and bolt were placed on. The whole thing was illustrated by hand using about 60 layers. The body and the wood grain took the longest time naturally. The neck...
I did this one 2 years ago with Photoshop after I bought my first strat.772
Neither. It's taken from act III of "A Streetcar Named Desire."
How incredibly inventive this is! It's perfect. Happy Progmas! Happy holograms, season's chordings!

This is one awesome guy. Moonrise is a Polish band-basically one guy who's a multi-instrumentalist. I love this song:

I agree, especially about "Inside", and I also love their early stuff. I love Oceans because of the polish, and the creativity. I believe that their bass player Manfred migrated to Jane. Not...
"Ocean" is my favorite Eloy release. I love the early stuff, but in 1977, it seems like they really started fine tuning their stuff.
Mike-progbear: that is wonderful! I'm checking more stuff from them out.
I'd walk a mile for a camel. Live stuff, always fantastic. Great band!
Are prog fans Pretentious? I don't think so, at least I haven't met any. Investigative might be a better word. Anybody who is passionate about something can always over-glorify it. It's human nature...
I realize that one song is a tough call, but one song can pleasantly haunt a person forever. Since Yessongs' "And You and I" earned me more warnings from apartment managers and makes me tingle to...
Progman75: PF "Dogs" is truly exceptional. It was among my runners up, along with the title tune of KC's "In the Wake of Poseidon". Italprogrules: I haven't heard of Big Big Train, so I'm going to...
It's too bad we can't ask Steve Hackett. I'm sure he'd know.
Anyone have a favorite prog song that just stays with you forever and ever? Something that moves you into another world, or perhaps a favorite that's endured the ravages of time? I've struggled with...
The goth was hand drawn. The portrait of Syd started off working over a photo using a multitude of layers, but then that became too difficult, so I just printed the photo and did it by eye.
Thank you for the Camel thread. One of the best bands ever. I began with the Moonmadness album and loved it. Ever since then I've been hooked. I can't listen to "Ice" only once. It has to get played...
These are great as well. Lunacy is great.
I checked out your website Lynette. I love that lizard that loads for the background image. Awesome stuff you have, really fantastic! Here are a couple of mine, both done in photoshop.

That's an interesting Jeff Beck story. There's a lot of scary guitarists out there that have made me feel that way, but I fumble on.
This is simply awesome work! I love it. I too do traditional works, mostly ink, graphite, and colored pencil, but these days I prefer photoshop.
Thanks, I used photoshop. Maybe I should do one of Pauley as well.
Thanks! I created the face out of my head, but she reminds me of a few friends I have.
Yes, it's acrually right here. (I've included the url to the full interview at the bottom):
P: A related question. You have said that Nektar is not a "prog" band, but a "rock" band. Indeed, you...
I'm less than a mediocre guitarist but I love art. I did this digital painting whilst listening to Nektar's "Journey to the Centre of the Eye" and various Pink Floyd from the early 70's, and Lycia's...
Steve,
I got into it big time. the action at 4.25 of "tone generation/time pulls the trigger" was a nice build. It reminds me in many ways of Guru Guru in their finest psychedelic moments. Great...
I too was completely in love with Nektar after hearing RTF for the first time. The opening melancholy of side two of "Remember the Future" hooked me from the get go. I've been a loyal follower since....
