Agreed
Quote from Jon Anderson?
This seems like progressive rock to me, even with a hint of youthful rebellion. Nice to see some of the festival attendees enjoying this also.
I've never thought Prog is dead, just concerned about what the future of the genre will be. Without support from some kind of popular fan base, I don't see a motivation for the best players to write...
I was bothered by the complete absence of Elton's Band in Rocket Man. I don't think there was even one speaking line from one of his band members which all played a huge role in his success. I saw...
Every single person I have talked to that has seen the movie thinks this was all true and fact based. Every single one. If this was a fictional rock movie, then they should have used a fictional...
"The film you about to see is based upon a true story. Some of the facts of the band's history and characters in the movie have been changed or altered by the producers and director. Please turn...
Interpretation? Those are just facts I mentioned.
I won't be wasting my money on another sequel of fictional rockstar BS trying to re write history for profit.
Has the audience for jazz grown in the last 10 years? Declined, or stayed about the same?
I think he said he makes his living doing these videos. The way to make it in music these days is to teach on the internet, not make music and try to sell it.
So with this "formula" for band biopics moving forward, what will the Led Zeppelin film be?
Page's super group is made up of 4 superstars. Page and Jones from the Yardbirds, Plant and Bonham...
If this is the future of progressive rock, then it is quite successful. But then maybe a definitive definition of the genre is in order?
I think most understand that a biopic will not be 100% accurate due to the time restraints of crunching 20 years into 2 hours. However, to completely lie and misrepresent the core theme, build up...
I do remember "Elton Dean" being mentioned and that Elton John wanted to use the name Elton Dean of which Elton Dean did not find amusing. Was that true? Did that happen? In these kind of films,...
This was apparent in the film, and the reason I liked it more. It felt more honest and genuine from that perspective.
But I would disagree that these things did NOT happen to the band. They did not come off a two year hiatus to perform Live Aid, rusty etc. Simply not true by any stretch of reality.
Freddie did...
After looking into this a bit more.. Freddie wasn't diagnosed with Aids until two years later in 1987. So the movie depicting Freddie gathering around his bandmates before the Live Aid rehearsals...
I noticed that the songs were way out of order on their timeline... same with Rocket Man. I suppose one could argue that the music in a catalog is there for collective consideration for such a film....
I recently saw both films within a week of one another.
I enjoyed both for different reasons. I probably enjoyed Rocket Man a bit more as it seemed more creative and artistically interesting. ...
I care for one.
It would be interesting to hear why "Funeral for a Friend" would not be considered prog. Just because he is Elton John? Didn't Elton John audition for Gentle Giant at one early...
I was there years ago and met that great Chapman Stick player, Anthony Mazzero who resided there. He was always playing around town and exceptional. I wonder if he ever put together a progressive...
My feeling is that progressive rock as was known back in the day was inspired by music that was more sophisticated than the popular music of the time. With the infusion of classical music influence...
I was reading an old music fanzine magazine a while back that was on the coffee table at a party. It was kinda shocking to see the bands that were listed in the top 20 or so. Some of them were rock...
It's a simple question, but maybe the answers would be more complicated.
I was thinking, but probably wrong, that both classical music and jazz were much more popular in the "total music pie" than today. Both those genres seemed imperative to the development and...
It's been discussed for a long time, but we are in a new time now. Will we ever see an epic return of Progressive Rock into popular culture as significant as the music was to it's former glory days?
I would have to agree with this 100%
Jeff Beck found the sweetspot on these two albums.
I remember hearing this and thinking that this was really how a great rhythm section should be working...
I'm a big fan of Geddy Lee, but I wish Paul McCartney had written such a book. I still consider Paul to be the finest rock bassist of the last 50 years.
Very surprised to see KC caving to Spotify. Seems a move of desperation.

Is this the best version of this show out on the web?
It's creative stuff... .after a few listens, you'll appreciate it in a new way.
Thanks for making some wonderful music that will be enjoyed by many for years to come!
