Gilmour plays on "Rocket's Tail" and "Love and Anger" from "The Sensual World".
He may have been the first to use it on electric bass, but it was invented much earlier, there is evidence for its use in the 17th century: https://research.lizzywelsh.com/?page_id=156
Sometimes it bothers me more when I can understand it...
I got it from Bandcamp: https://gongband.bandcamp.com/album/unending-ascending

So good. Both the "White City" and "Deep End Live" are albums I often return to.
I'm excited to announce that our new album is out today! I'm playing Chapman-Stick, electric violin and even some fretless guitar on this.

For me, Motorpsycho ticks both boxes.
The NST only came after the eighties trilogy of King Crimson albums.
Fred Friths "Pop" album. I love it, it's so good!
Very nice! Anthony Pirog is one of my favorite current guitarists. I would love to see him live someday.
Donated. The goal is almost reached.
“I wrote The Dark Side of the Moon. Let’s get rid of all this ‘we’ crap!” Yeah, let me replace it with some 'me' crap!
Sad to read that. What made Floyd great was the combination of the four...
Yes. The tracks are all from other albums. But the albums they are from are all worth checking out, at least the ones I have heard.
The Stick Men now have a new Youtube Channel. They also posted a documentary which I hadn't seen before:

Oh no, I'm way behind! I'm still listening to the 20th anniversary edition! I must be doing it wrong.
The "Lamb" cover is one of my favorite covers of all time. :good

They even seem to have a Roger Dean-esque cover.
I would have loved to hear that!
Is Ulrich Schnauss still a member, by the way? I listened to an interview with the three other members about the new album and he wasn't even mentioned.
What amazes me are the melodies he comes up with. He really has a gift for melody. Just two examples - singable (and memorable) but each with a twist that makes them totally original:

I would recommend to start with „You“, if you haven’t heard it yet. Not only is it my favourite Gong album ever, it also has a perfect mix between the earlier song-oriented stuff and the later...
Me too. I think Gong is in good hands with these guys.

Same here. Strange. Maybe it's because "A Complex Nature" appeared on Cuneiform and the other two albums didn't?
I haven't listened to it yet, but Diego is the guest in Markus Reuter's most recent Podcast: Markus Reuter PODCAST #061: Diego Tejeida

My first one was "Papier Ciseau", the quartet of pianist Roberto Negro, here at a local jazz club. Great concert with a band on fire! You could even call it prog jazz....

I borrowed the LP from our local library, copied it to cassette and...
I think Vangelis played the keyboards here.
Yes, the sound design was very well done and memorable, too. All in all, one of my favorite science fiction films of all time.
I really liked the soundtrack to "Arrival", and how vocal samples were used in this film, where language plays such an important role.

Before Levin/Torn/White there was Bozzio/Levin/Stevens.
Now is your chance! :-)
Step Across The Border is currently available on Vimeo, with or without German subtitles: https://vimeo.com/filmmuseummuenchen
If I had to name one, this one would probably my favorite Motorpsycho album. It needs to get mentioned more often in this thread. :-)
Do it, it's available on DVD. I think you won't regret it. It's one of the few documentaries I can watch repeatedly, I can always discover something new and it makes me happy every time.
For me it definitely was Fred Frith - Step Across The Border.
I was already familiar with Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Eno and Mahavishnu. Then a fellow student told me to go see this documentary,...
King Crimson: Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part III. The studio version never clicked with me, but when I heard the live version on "Absent Lovers" I finally got an idea what the piece ist about.
