Greetings,
Another extremely strong entry in my candidates (just acquired):

I've always been a big Scott Johnson fan, but I think this is his most impressive work to date.
Cheers,
Alan

I just picked up a copy of Cheer-Accident's latest, Fades.
It'll take some doing for anyone to top that one for me.
And why is no one talking about this album? Absolutely stellar.
C-A does Krautrock? Kinda and it's awesome.
Will be in my top 5 come year end.
For me the best album of the year so far are ,Subsignal la muerta , their least proggy album so far ,but the songs are great to My ears ,and has some twist and turns to give it staying power IMO .
Cheers
Just picked up Southern Empire's new one, Civilisation, and I'm actually really liking it.
Just mentioning a few that I really like and I haven't seen mentioned much:
Ange-Hereux!
Marchesi Scamorza-Gemini
Osada Vida-Variomatic
3RDegree-Ones and Zeros Vol. 0
Also highly anticipating the upcoming Phideaux and Seven Steps To The Green Door albums
and really enjoying (thanks in part to this thread):
Malady-Toinen Toista
Bomber Goggles-Gyreland
Not A Good Sign-Icebound
Needlepoint-The Diary of Robert Reverie
Nik Bärtsch Ronin - Awase
Wow, 7 pages, and not one release from a band I have heard any music from... I have admittedly not been paying attention, Trying to put together my own solo prog show to take on the road - but still, some of that stuff on these lists is pretty obscure - isnt it? It mught just be "me".
I am not what one would call a deep state prog fan. I am pretty much up on more mainstream stuff. But there are no good releases from artists that I typically would try to pick up. Perhaps they all got the message that releasing music is a waste of time? Anyway that depresses me, but I do have to try to find something to buy from 2018. Are there any releases from more - I cant say "popular" artists - because nothing I like is really "popular". No Roger Waters or other established artists even worth even an "honorable mention"?
Wow, is 2018 going to be the first year that I did not buy at least one new release from?
Oh, Why do I know that name David Torn?
This was a little depressing for me. I'm sure that some of these mentioned would be of interest to me. I just am losing my grip on new releases. Maybe I have become one of those "fair weather" prog fans that only buy stuff from the mainstream bands... Like Thinking Plague, Moon Safari...
I am flumoxed. is it just me? - it must be just me. In past years, I could offer up at least 5 new releases for every year as far back as I have been a PE-er. I have nothing to contribute this year at all. and looking at the lists, are these really the best, or are they the ONLY releases?
OK so you caught me in a moment of irony. I was just trying to recall one of my recent purchases that was from a band that is discussed here with some slight regularity. If I have offended anyone by that mild attempt at humor, I apologize and will be happy to donate to any cause that you may or may not espouse, so that you dont think me in any way hateful towards the more exclusive bands...
Needlepoint - Diary of Robert Reverie . An excellent slice of sweet 60's progressive psychedelia.
Surprisingly no sample I can find anywhere to endorse these guys to my friends.
The new double album from Phideax, Infernal, has rocketed to the top spot on my list at the moment. Whether it holds on to the position by year's end remains to be seen, but at the moment this thing is just slaying me.
