Well, of course, not much of interest for PE fans except maybe Muse and Bjork. But I took a ramble thru the New Age category in the Echoes Blog: http://wp.me/pgATL-1OT

Meh.

Taylor Swift is nominated in multiple categories, ergo the whole thing's a fraud.

why? So you don't like her? So it's a fraud? She writes, she plays, I think she produces - it's pop music for 20 year olds- of course you won't identify with it. I sure don't. But a fraud? Oh and she's kind of hot.

I have no problem with the genre that she's in - I like a LOT of pop music.

But she's a no-talent hack.

Watch any of the Country awards shows and she sticks out like a sore thumb with her complete inability to sing.

It's pretty tough to call anyone a "no-talent" hack, Scott, when regardless of her sense of pitch or lack thereof, she has written by herself several songs that made a shitload of $, which in itself is quite a talent imo.

Not my cuppa' btw, but I don't think she sucks.:)

The whole list. (http://www.grammy.com/nominees) I had to scroll all the way down to category 16 to find something that I know I've heard. (Tom Waits)

Blissfully out of touch...

You mean to say you've never heard Coldplay, Muse, Bjork, Ravi Shankar or Yo-Yo Ma? I'd say that's a little more than out of touch.

Blissfully out of touch...there's actually some great new bands from the last decade, some winning grammys some not.

Believe me, I don't dish out that insult lightly.

I'm perfectly familiar with the idea that just because I don't like something doesn't make it "bad" (see the "pretentious forum member" thread for my views on this kinda stuff), but no one is ever going to convince me that she deserves any accolades from the music industry.

Again, watch some of the Country Music awards shows - hell, watch last night's Grammy announcement. The Band Perry performed with Dierks Bentley. Now, I'm no fan of Country at all, but you can't deny that the lady in The Band Perry can sing like an angel. Put up any of their material vs. "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," and the difference is plain as day. Swift's song is just insipid.

The fact that people like it gives it absolutely no credibility whatsoever.

People really liked "Who Let the Dogs Out," too. :roll

Of course I have, but the list of nominees is (artists and songs) or (artists and albums), and the Tom Waits is the first one that I can say for certain I've heard. Some of the other ones I may have heard, but I have no idea.

"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," I don't even know what that is.

Is there a link to the Grammy nominees? I'd Google it, but I'm having computer issues tonight.
