To be premiered this December. Featuring the wonderful voices of Jeanne Added and Elise Caron, two of the best French jazz (& beyond) vocalists. Starts out very ballad-y but gets a little bit rockier later on !

Beautiful stuff, and the first time since the 1970s we've seen John playing an old fashioned, Fender Jazz-type bass.

Nice! I have one of his solo cd's (forget title...in French iirc) and I like it. He's a great talent, obviously.
A friend once gave me a copy of Pung Pyle and Greaves to see if I would like it, and I tried a few times, but couldn't get in to it. Can anybody advise to keep trying because it's well worth the effort? lol

I love Greaves' work and indeed Pyle's, but, like you, I couldn't get into the Iung/Pyle/Greaves album.

Greaves is also in The Artaud Beats (a Henry Cow reunion of sorts), with Chris Cutler, Geoff Leigh and Yumi Hara Cawkwell. Yumi's recently said they'll be releasing a live album.

This is beautiful!
Will this project be available on CD, or just a live show?

Pretty sure there'll be a release next year. Greaves released the 2nd volume of his settings of Verlaine poems earlier this year. This is a different project - about Verlaine, but with original lyrics (by a French lyricist) and music. The project is built around a residency at Le Triton, which is both a venue and a recording studio, so there is every reason to believe all this hard work isn't intended for just a series of concerts.

Very beautiful. It somehow reminds me a bit of his outstanding album "Songs". Thanks for sharing.

thanks for posting that, very nice. I wish more songwriters and composers wrote songs like this. In a way, very old fashioned -- like 1800s old fashioned (Schumann and Schubert specifically, but obv also some Debussy in there) -- but timeless too.

That was really great - kind of an abrupt transition in there - but I dig disparate moods and changes. Her voice is amazing. Thanks.

I got Verlaine Gisanti album yesterday. Great stuff! Even better than I expected. How does this compare to earlier Verlaine albums?

Très intéressant... although my French isn't very good. Does anyone know more (or know the same amount in English)?
