Tried to link this pic:

http://static.stuff.co.nz/1351643937/823/7887823.jpg

The site said it was too large, so I uploaded it to Photobucket and then posted the image.

I'm sure I can find this somewhere, but I'm lazy.

What are the size limitations for avatars?

That was in the PE thread. It is 80x80

Man, I'm really having issues. I've tried using an image with 79x76 dimensions, and I'm getting an "Image upload failed" message.

Oh, wait - looks like it took. Never mind. I think.

I guess there's still an issue of the forum telling me that the image upload failed when in fact it didn't.

Another very minor quibble.

Interesting - ffroyd's image was too small for me to really see, but you can click on it and enlarge it.

NICE!

That would be THIS image.

(Just trying the quote function! :D)

(BTW - we NEED the emoticons from the old site, too!)

How was Duncan's image already enlarged in Post #3?

I believe the difference is the smaller version was uploaded directly to the board. Duncan's was linked from another site.

They have been copied across.

There are 2 ways to insert pictures:

Using the IMG tags, just like in PEv2. this shows pictures in the larger format. I actually prefer it, because it does not take storage space on our new system.

Doing an attachment. this shows up small, and clicking it shows the bigger picture. Takes that extra click to see the pic, and takes disc space.

I know this is a stupid question for many but I'm curious why my profile picture doesn't show up when I post?

Profile pic is different than avatar pic. Go back into your settings and look for avatar.

When posting a ULR linked image, unclick 'Retrieve remote file and reference locally' and you should have no problem posting any image.

That's a cool feature. I didn't know that was a feature until now. Sometimes I want to post an image but I don't use one of those picture hosting sites.

Sometimes the image posting works for me and sometimes it doesn't. Must be using the wrong kind of pron links. :doh

Make sure you're using the tags correctly - they are "IMG" (capitals), not "img".

(In PEv2 I allowed any mix of upper & lower case.)

Yep, I used all caps. Still had issues. So maybe it was the link. I see Chrome shaves off the http://
