Nah, it's actually easier...
Just use VIDEO instead of YT in brackets and
you don't have to remove anything from the youtube URL.

Ah well, that is indeed a lot easier now to do :-)

And this is a very very beautiful tune and the addition of a real orchestra makes it especially haunting IMHO.

Edit: Hmm.. why is it that I don't see the video? Is that maybe an iPad compatibility issue?

Wow, there sure is a diverse selection of what folks consider to be "hauntingly beautiful!" I don't consider all submissions to fit the bill, but several have been great and the wide range of how we perceive things is one of the things that makes PE such a fun place!

As the starter of this thread, I suppose it's time I learned how to embed at our new digs. Here we go (and wish me luck)!

This is a relatively obscure tune by Jobim that epitomizes the idea of "melancholy but beautiful" for me.

Sylvain "Orpheus" was the first thing I thought of.
Also there is this achingly beautiful DeadcanDance track - I think from "Spleen & Ideal", but not sure.

This here:
http://youtu.be/8Xi79uEDbag

Listen to the simple 10 second rising bridge that comes in at around 50 seconds. That brings water to my eyes every time. Those 10 seconds take you straight to Patchen's "where angels have their pale, tall choirs." (Even though there is no choir.)

Speaking of angels:
That DeadCanDance track now comes to me. "Host of Seraphim" from "Serpent's Egg". It effects me even stronger now - my dad never cared for music and only made two music comments that I recall - one that Beatles "Hello,Goodbye" lyrics were retarded and he was moved by "Host of Seraphim".
