Is there a way to bookmark threads like in PE of the olden days, and view only the threads we've bookmarked?

I think what you are looking for may be found under Thread Tools/Subscribe to This Thread in the upper right hand side of the screen?

Use subscribe, you can then find them by looking under Quick Links for Subscribed Threads
