View Full Version : YouTube Video

I noticed the board only allows 1 video per post. I would hope this changes. There are a lot of instances where some use video to compare things. Having to construct another post immediately after might lose it's flare.

What are some of your views on this?

I agree with you, Gruno. Only 1 video per post will be cumbersome.

I've noticed this two. In my thread about Galahad's two albums, I wanted to post two YT-vids.

If there's need for a maximum (which would make sense), I'd make it 5 or maybe 3. That's reasonable.

I've just been trying to post a vid (by adding the youtube url to that little box in the manage attachments window) but it was saying invalid file or something.

What have I missed??

Matt.

I have the same question...

You can embed them the PE v2.0 way, just use the word VIDEO instead of YT.

If 'borrowing' from YouTube, do we still remove everything before the "=" sign? I just tried that using [ VIDEO ] and [/VIDEO ] and it still did not work.

Nope, just put in everything.

Well, the one you put in my stoner thread does not work. Nor does the one 3LockBox posted in this thread.

They both play for me.

All I see is a black screen with a red and white "play" button, but I cannot get it to play.

Just thought I'd test this new way as well with an example inspired by a recent thread here on PE 3.0. ;)

None of those work for me. I am using IE here at work. Could that be the issue? Is this board more Safari/Firefox friendly?

Yves, I'm using IE. I tried to post how I posted the video I posted yesterday but when I typed it all out all I got was gobledeegook. I'll try again.

Go to youtube and pick the video you want. Start the video so you can see the URL in the browsing field (you know, http://www.youtube.com/blahblah). Copy and paste the whole URL in your post. On either end of the URL (no spaces) type [ video ] at the beginning, and then [ /video ] at the end. That's what I did and it worked.

Just remember that there are no spaces between the brackets [] and the word VIDEO.

Another thing I just thought of. If you're trying to post from work maybe Youtube is blocked. Like at work I can see/play Youtube videos that are embedded in threads but I can't browse http://www.youtube.com

This can be changed.

What would be a reasonable limit?

I would vote for 3 vids max per post.

Vic, not only can I not post any, I can't view the ones posted. I have no restrictions here on my work PC and this is where I spend 90% of my PE viewing time. I never had any such problems on the old board.

^ Sounds like it may be a firewall type thing, or who knows? One thing I noticed about this new site is that I can browse the site from work as long as I'm not logged in. Once I try to sign in the filter at work blocks me. So no posting from work on the new site (unless I use my mobile phone).

Wow. That's weird.

I don't think it's weird. I'm actually surprised that PE2 isn't blocked at my job. I'm not sure how they set up those website filters but my guess is the vBB is a very common, popular forum system, and they don't want employess spending time posting on forums while they're at work. I mean, yeah it's weird that I can browse PE3 from work but I can't log in. What I mean by that is that after I enter my credentials the entire website is blocked, and I get a warning.

On another note, regarding the number of videos one can post in one post should be limited. Too many youtube videos in one post just gets kinda crazy.

To people having trouble posting video: it only works if you post the full length link (in your browser’s URL bar). The short “youtu.be” share link won’t work.
