View Full Version : Closed Thread - what closes it?

I see a few threads show a 'lock' on the icon, and will show as a 'Closed Thread'. What or who closes them? Is it the original poster? Or is it Admin?
Just curious

on the other board, just mention "Nestor" and it closes :) By the way, they just announced all threads to be closed on 12/31/12 on the other board.

I think I understand a little better - if the whole thread is inappropriate, the admins can delete it. If the thread has some redeeming qualities, but then starts to go off kilter, it gets closed/locked.

Thank you

Admins

Good. I remember on PE2 when the OP would delete a thread because he didn't like the direction it was going in. The admins here are great. They're fair. They're patient. They show good judgement. Sometimes it's kinda frustrating when a thread gets closed but I understand the terms of service. Sometimes you just love to watch a good flame war ;).

Sometimes you just love to watch a good flame war ;).Indeed, sometimes those threads are ticking along innocuously then suddenly there are 30 more posts & I can't take my eyes off it.

BTW - see the Terms Of Service (ToS) ... there's a link near the bottom-right-hand corner of every screen.

The basic terms of service are almost identical to PEv2.

The Privacy terms (linked from the ToS) have been re-written.

So can the original poster delete his/her own thread or close a thread like in the old PE? Is there a link someone can post to show how it's done? Thanks.

OK, while we're talking about thread icons, I know the little green thingy with the arrow in it marks threads where I've replied, what is a "sticky" thread? Is there a link that describes the various icons and their meaning? Are there any besides sticky, locked, and replied2byme?

It's a thread we can make rise to the top of the pile if it's marked as a sticky.

I certainly hope so - that was the dumbest spam I've seen in a long time
