Well, apart from the actual "James Bond Theme", ya know, the one with the cool guitar riff that gets played at the start of every (or almost every) Bond film, I like Live And Let Die the best. Nobody Does It Better (from The Spy Who Loved Me) and For Your Eyes Only weren't bad either. That Duran Duran song, I think it was for A View To A Kill, that one was good too.

Live and Let Die
Goldfinger (though I really don't care for Shirley Bassey otherwise)
A View to a Kill
Die Another Day (no idea why I like this one, as I don't like Madonna and don't like this kinda music, but I love this song)
Skyfall

And, as Chris mentioned, the original "Secret Agent Man"-type theme.

Goldfinger (though I really don't care for Shirley Bassey otherwise)
she does have a booming kind of voice - kind of Ethel Merman-ish in a way.

And, as Chris mentioned, the original "Secret Agent Man"-type theme.which was for Dr No (the first film) though i at first thought it might have been 'Three Blind Mice' until i saw the video. but since the main theme appears in every Bond film, i didn't consider it.

I would have to go with "Live And Let Die"

The best Bond theme never used was Alice Cooper's The Man With The Golden Gun. Lulu`s song was probably the worst Bond song ever

Traci Hitchins from Landmarq also recorded a song that was quite good but never used. Just forget for which movie.
I`d have to go with Duran Duran ¡

Hardly. Madonna's "Die another day" (apologies to the above poster who likes it, but I just can't bear it) and one or two others rank below it (or does anyone really think "Underneath the mango tree" from Dr. No is better than "The Man with the Golden Gun"?). Much as though I love the new film, Adele's "Skyfawww" is hardly a great Bond song, imho.

My favourites are 'From Russia with Love', 'Goldfinger', 'You only live twice', 'On her majesty's secret service' (not technically a song, of course, but awesome nonetheless), 'Live and Let Die', 'Nobody does it better', 'The living daylights' (a couple of songs by The Pretenders used in that film were pretty good too), 'Licence to kill', 'Surrender' (the closing title-song of 'Tomorrow Never Dies' by KD Lang) and 'You know my name'.

world is not enough
skyfall
you know my name
for your eyes only
living daylights

I believe the classic JB theme (such as being played at the beginning of the above video under the movie name "Dr. No") is only a theme -- rather than a song with lyrics -- but of course count that in too.

"For your eyes only" is tops in my book, but for reasons I shan't go into here.

I like most of them, particularly:

Tom Jones's Thunderball
Shirley Bassey's Diamonds Are Forever
Paul McCartney's Live and Let Die
Carly Simon's Nobody Does it Better
Chris Cornell's You Know My Name
Shani Hall's Never Say Never Again
Herb Alpert's Casino Royale
and of course Alice Cooper's unused Man With the Golden Gun

Actually I could go on and on - I like them all.

I like many of them, but faves go to any of the Shirley Bassey tunes, Tom Jones' Thunderball, Nancy SInatra's You Only Live Twice and also the one by Garbage "The World is Not Enough".

I also quite like the new one by Adele

Goldfinger, closely followed by Casino Royale...which also has 'The Look of Love' in it, of course, soundtracking Ursula Andress in slow motion behind the fish tank: hard to beat. Shame they lost so much of the coherence of the original 1967 film when they remade it with Daniel Craig ...;)

'Skyfall' sounded like a very knowing cut-and-paste reassembly of hooks from several classic Bond themes ('From Russia with Love', 'Goldfinger', Thunderball') mixed with a small dash of early Noel Gallagher and some sub-Bassey vocals. Which suited the self-referential content of the film perfectly...but also seemed to be about 10 years too late...

Besides Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice has always stayed in my head. Maybe it is because I saw the film on its day of release in 1967 at Grumann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. The movie and the music made quite an impression to me at 13 years old. I'll always love the twangy James Bond Theme too. 007 forever!

Herb Albert/Burt Bacharach for sure.

Man With the Golden Gun includes the line, "He comes just before the kill." ANyone who read the book will know what that means.

I used the theme to the Avengers in my wedding- It was our exit music down the aisle.

Actually, I'm kind of the opposite... I don't like those type of diva-sangstress songs, whether Bond-related or not (didn't know of Alice Cooper's failed attempt, though)

If I have to choose one, I'd say Live and Let Die, because it's a rockier song.... But even for Wings/Macca standards, it's not that good a song either...

i don't know man, he sure rocked the hell out of it last november when i saw him, i'd say it stood up very well compared to the rest of the set that night.

out of curiosity, why do people call him Macca anyway? is he cool with it or is it one of those stupid media/press generated things like J-Lo or Bradjolina?
