    Kaipa tour?

According to Roine Stolt's most recent posting on FlowerKingsMail:

"there is a line of KAIPA gigs scheduled - (well we call us KAIPA Da Capo ) - and play entirely theVintage 70 material."

I would love to see this...any one know anything more about this exciting news?

I've been wondering about this as well. It does not involve Hans Lundin but I think it does involve some of the other original members. I haven't been able to find any other news about it. I hope there is some official bootleg of these shows. Roine never seems to take any time off so this seems to be a quick project to do now that Transatlantic gigs are done are before going into studio for new TFK and/or AoM.

Aint that the truth. He seems to appear on more releases than anyone else in prog these days.

The band (aside from Roine) consists (last I knew) of the drummer (Ingemar Bergman) and bass player (can't think of his name right now) from the original Kaipa along with Tomas Bodin on keys and Michael Stolt on rhythm guitar and vocals. I'm kind of assuming any touring will be Europe only, but we can hope...

Roine also mentioned working on other projects that he seems pretty excited about. "...most work goes into a few new studio projects - one of them quite high profile and very amazing, very rewarding..."

I don't know if it's true, probably is, but for what it's worth he and his wife were at the recent Steve Hackett Paris show, just as audience members, so I suppose that was a holiday of some sort - although I can imagine his wife saying "you take me to Paris and what do we get to see ? Steve f***ing Hackett !! Can't you forget about prog for a minute ?!?"

Wow, I wonder what this could be?? Another Supergroup? That could be something very special if so. Past history (Transatlantic, The Tangent) show that he works well in those type of situations. I would like to see Roine work with The Tangent again but I doubt that's what this is.

Hm, I hardly think 'Roine' appears on more releases than Tatsuya Yoshida or people like that, but OK.

You're probably right, but Tatsuya Yoshida (while definitely prolific) is perhaps not as widely known.

Which is a shame actually, because he is a brilliant musician. His Koenjihyakkei albums alone are quite amazing.

To get back on topic... This is a cool idea, playing some vintage Kaipa stuff in concert. Would love to see that.

Also, very cool about the studio projects. I wonder what they could be...

A Kaipa tour in the states would be unbelievable! Wishful thinking I suppose.

This is in 2 days! - is anyone going so they can report back to us less fortunate...

    google translated:
    PROGRAM
    Friday, August 15th 14:00 to 15:00

    Kaipa

After 30 years, reunited three quarters of Kaipa. Roine Stolt (also guitarist of Transatlantic, The Flower Kings) Tomas Eriksson (bass) Ingemar Bergman (drums). The whole thing has been heightened by Tomas Bodin (keyboards including The Flower Kings and board member in the AFM) and Michael Stolt (vocals and guitar, known from Desperados and the Eurovision Song Contest).

Music from the first three classic albums promised. In the 70's was Kaipa Sweden's largest symphonic rock band with his melodic music still has fans worldwide.
