Thread: Vocals that are progressive

It's recordings of students of vocal teacher Alfred Wolfsohn, made in the 50's. I only heard about Wolfsohn's work recently, and his conviction that every human voice is capable of much more than we give it credit for. Just hearing that it can actually be done has already helped me extended my own low vocal range quite dramatically! Interestingly, working on the lower range also seems to help make the higher ranges sound better. Admittedly there's not much practical use for a 5 1/2 octave vocal glissando in pop music, but the ability to extend one's range to that extent is certainly intruiging...

Seriously. 16 posts and no mention of the master.

    Alberto Piras, as mentioned above.

Lisa Gerrard and her idioglossia singing is the only one that readily comes to my mind although I guess scat singing could be considered progressive. Anyone else think of some others?

That guy from A.C.T seems to be doing his own thing - don't know how to describe it, though

Yeah, neither do I. I like him though.

A.C.T seem to be underrated, IMO.
