I'm digging this new release by the band M(H)ysteria-Family Drug.Music for Hammond organ, electric bass and drums. Not a swinging session. Not quite jazz, not quite prog, but with a touch of both and with an improvisational vibe.Dark, moody, spiky stuff. All i can say is, it's a winner, imo.Got it from Wayside.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Yeah, I was listening to the SHOB this morning and liked it. They have CDs for sale on Bandcamp. I may sample a bit more and if it's all (or mostly) this good, I'll likely grab them. I don't recall ever seeing this band on domestic vendor sites. Very cool stuff.

New release by Bjorn Riis (front man of Norwegian band airbag). For fans of David Gilmour. This track is a bit heaver than previous efforts, the rest of the album isn't as heavy.

Awesome! Geez, has it been that long since their last one?

Hmmm, maybe I need to listen further. But I really like Phlox, so I'm likely to give it a shot anyway. What made you unsure about the later tracks?

Tracks 2 to 4 seemed to be more "noisy" and less of a song.

Definitely give it a listen first...

I did listen a bit more before I left for work. Got through I think track five. I see what you're saying. I really liked the second track, which does have that "slurping" sound mixed in, but has some cool music too. The third track is just one minute, but that and the first half of track four you are right about, definitely more noise than song. Second half of track four seems to be more song. I can't recall much after that because I was packing up to go.

I guess I'll finish it out at some point. I don't begrudge the band trying something new, they've always had a bit of that "noise" element in their music, but this may push more in that direction. I'm not a super fan of that approach, so if the balance is too skewed I may pass. But I heard a lot I liked here too.

Thanks for the heads up, though, better sample than sorry!

Hmmm, not sure about this one. Don't care for the crazy 'vocal-yelling-like-lunatics', on a couple of songs. It is definitely good in parts for me, and a lot of people might really dig it. Don't think it's for me ,though.
