I dig this track and am excited to hear the rest of the album. Pineapple Thief produce the sort of melodic prog I tend to enjoy most--prog that's both technically impressive and emotionally-involving.

Looks like you have similar tastes to mine - I wouldn't mind seeing some of your recommendations for melodic prog. I have a thread on progarchives where I have curated quite a number of mostly melodic prog recommendations, have a look and do post there with your recommendations (not to clutter this new release thread). http://www.progarchives.com/forum/fo....asp?TID=96312

Speaking of new melodic prog releases, airbag's new album is due out next week, here is the first track of the album disconnected

Lettie Maclean: "Halcyon Days (Days To Remember)"

This is a single, featuring Anthony Phillips.

Her voice and the music reminds me of Virginia Astley.

    Wonderful video:

ooh! sounds good. like that band. try this one. a band that originally started as a 4 piece in Washington State, the sixth release from Odd Logic was written and recorded by Sean Thompson alone. Penny For Your Thoughts is a free download at CD Baby. can't beat that and it's good (Progressive Rock/Metal)

Is there somehow a common definition as to how music gets to be "emotionally-involving"?
"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM

Lost Betty Davis sessions with Miles Davis released by Light In The Attic

    http://www.factmag.com/2016/06/28/lo...-in-the-attic/

The Columbia Years 1968-1969 features jazz legends including Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin and more.

Light In The Attic will follow their reissues of Betty Davis’ albums with the newly unearthed Columbia Years 1968-1969, a compilation which features never-before-heard collaborations with her then-husband Miles Davis.

The release notably features a pair of 1969 sessions at Columbia’s 52nd Street Studios on May 14 and 20 produced by Miles Davis and Teo Macero. Featuring Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, John McLaughlin, Jimi Hendrix’s drummer Mitch Mitchell and more, they mark some of the musicians’ first experimentations with psychedelic fusion. The recordings include unreleased covers of Cream and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

I searched this thread and was surprised this was not mentioned yet:
    delirium_album.jpg

It's surprisingly good for an album made by at least one world class celebrity. Multi-part songs, studio tricks, mellotron splashes, build and release passages all are included. Lennon seems to tame Claypool's penchant for repetitive monotone melodies over endless driving bass lines with very imaginative production. As their website puts it:

Over the course of six weeks or so, the two wrote and recorded a total of ten songs with both of them sharing various vocal and instrumental responsibilities, going beyond their core instruments of bass and guitar. Claypool explained, “Usually I play the drums and percussion on my records but Sean has such a different feel than I do, it just made more sense for him to man the kit on most of the tunes on this project. I took the helm at my old vintage API console and let him bang away. He was happy as a piggy rolling in shit every time he grabbed the sticks…his drumming is like a cross between Ringo and Nick Mason. But I think folks will be most surprised by what a monster guitar player he is, especially when you prod him a bit.”
