Romantic Warriors III - Canterbury Tales

After the previous two excellent DVD's, Adele Schmidt and José Zegarra Holder are now working on RWIII about Canterbury.

The funding request is here :-

    Here's the exciting trailer

    It looks really good.

I would like to see one that is just an overview of the genre or maybe a history up to the present day. Also, maybe one on the symphonic genre.

Would love to see interviews with Dave Stewart, but cant see there are any.
He is represented in 4 bands here, he is wellspoken, intelligent and has lots of humor, so I guess he didnt want to participate?

Hopefully the filmmakers are in contact with Aymeric.

[Nevermind -- he's in the preview!]

I suppose the silences are voluntary because this is more of an early teaser than an official trailer

Well, I believe I'm heard speaking an entire sentence about the 1968 US tour by Soft Machine, though it only switches briefly to me after a series of archives photos.

The "silences" are problems with your sound system -- some of the sound is mixed left-channel only, some right channel only, most of it is both.

Yes, Aymeric, I posted before watching the preview. No Canterbury documentary would be complete -- would be POSSIBLE -- without involving you!!!

Seeing how that "symphonic genre" - which I still DO enjoy - has pretty much laid stamp on 3/4 of progressive rock music while never actually covering more than 1/4 of it, and how this is the "subgenre" that's usually covered first hand due to its history of commercial success, I really can't see the overall need for these two filmmakers to create yet another feature on it.

Why, so all of our bands can be in the film, of course!

    Well, except for that then!

But I can obviously see the argument that the whole "new prog" phenomenon - whatever it may be - has proven such a large base that one would wish for someone to put it on film. I just can't see Schmidt/Zegarra Holder doing so.

There is also a sense of urgency with interviewing the first wave. We've already lost several titans.

I completely agree, and I think I understand the intent of Schmidt and Zegarra Holder is to shed light on the artists and subgenres that are largely unknown outside of our circles. There may be more to say about Yes, Genesis, Magma, VdGG etc., but the average music fan (not to mention casual prog fan) is more familiar with them than with Matching Mole or Univers Zero.

Big segments of the first two Romantic Warriors DVDs (especially the first) were on recent bands. I'd be willing to bet they cover several in the Canterbury one too.

No need to be - just read the IndieGoGo page, which mentions that the following contemporary bands will be covered (interviews/performance footage, including entire tracks in the bonus feature as with RW2) :

    Forgas Band Phenomena (France)
    The Wrong Object (Belgium)
    Syd Arthur (UK)
    Planeta Imaginario (Spain)

Of course; there was Cheer-Accident, Phideaux, D.F.A., La Maschera dC, Cabezas de Cera, not to mention your own band (kudos!) - but if anything, this stew makes for the exact point of illustrating the wideness of the whole "prog" thing, "subgenres" notwithstanding. From what I understand by what's available on the net, this third instalment will include such acts as The Wrong Object, Forgas Band Phenomena, Planeta Imaginario and even Syd Arthur, providing for yet another peep into quarters that are usually not that frequently visited by most "prog" connoisseurs overall. Which I'd say is good.

Dave Stewart was obviously considered, he is such a multifaceted and delightfully enigmatic character, however, all our efforts to persuade him to participate in the film were to no avail. Someone else may still be able to convince him, and since we have a few more months to go in terms of production effort, I don't loose hope!

What about Ratledge? Is anybody, even Robert Wyatt still in touch with him?
