Boo!
Looks it's one thing to keep a joke running, because it's mocking the whole idea. But, continuously shitting on the guy has certainly gotten old.
I blame The Beatles for inventing the whole thing.
See?

Thomas... well said! Frankly it was marginally funny at first... Kinda like the kid in grade school who gets a chuckle and then can't stop trying the same routine again...amateurs never know when to stop.
I agree!
Rufus go somewhere else and spread your poison!
Yea Phil you are the man !!!!!!!!!!!!
This isn't a 'political' post but just to provide context...
Phil's unpopularity in Britain largely comes down to that issue, or the 'fax' one. I've never seen the original articles concerning either. But it's worth noting that Phil left Britain and moved to Switzerland *years* before the 1997 election anyway, due to his then-wife. In truth, going on interviews he's given since, I gather Phil is actually somewhat apolitical when it comes to particular parties...like many rock stars!

Now, it's interesting you should mention Monty Python. I've never liked Monty Python. However, if you'd said Morecombe & Wise or Vic Reeves ....
Perhaps we need a British comedy thread. I've never liked that whole oxbridge, middle class, footlights type of "comedy" I never liked Monty Python, Not the 9 O' Clock News, Fry & Laurie, Rowan Atkinson, Alas Smith & Jones. I very much preferred & still prefer things like The Young Ones, Harry Enfield, Ben Elton, The Fast Show, Vic Reeves.

Phil's solo albums have their moments. Face Value was a home run, and it's great that he debuted with it. I consider to be the perfect counterpart to Duke. "In The Air Tonight," "Behind The Lines," "I'm Not Moving," and "Hand In Hand" are all really good. The rest of the album is great too. As Phil's solo career continued, his material became lighter and lighter. ... But Seriously, for example, has a few nice singles, but the album pales in comparison to Collins' earlier material -- "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning," Phil's drum instrumental from that album, is nowhere near as strong as "Hand In Hand" from Face Value.
Here's a great 30-minute interview from 1981 about Face Value and Genesis.
If Phil is making a comeback, he needs to come back with an album that reflects on his earlier material, not his later material. He has a lifetime of experience. It seems he is no longer able to drum, but he has options to address that too.
