Too many to bother with the entire list.

the problem with No. 6 is that those who fit this category probably include nearly every man, woman and child in Scotland. But not those in Salem, apparently. I am tempted to snigger.

A lot of prog clichés there.
    Way too many to read.

How many pop songs used a Mellotron, and aren't prog?
    "Closer To Home," for example.

    Right. No. 6 should be:

"You didn't know what a firth was, but you looked it up in the dictionary."

I can't believe folks are actually getting upset over this. I found it pretty funny.

I don't have any daughters, but we have a cat named Phaedra.
(Proghole points lost because the wife named her after some country song.)

Was it a country song Tangerine Dream wrote?

I think a list of the best 10 or 15 would have been funnier. I see this kind of overkill a lot on sites: "How can you tell if...?" type lists.

This is more a snipe at the person who made the list than at our Mr Woof.

The daughters one reminds me of a Doonesbury cartoon in which a guy on a flight strikes up a conversation with the guy seated next to him, who turns out to be a former rock star. Of course he is settled down now with a wife and kids, he says. Asked whether any of the children have shown any tendency to follow in Father's footsteps, he says "Oh no, they may do, but we are letting them grow up to be what they want without any sort of pressure to be like their parents."

He then brings out a family photo, and the first guy comments how cute the boys are and asks what are their names.

"The older one's Rimshot, that one's Feedback, and that's Baby Riffs."

Good point. There's some Johnny Cash-sounding bass guitar about 4:15 in.

I agree, the list goes on too long. Just like TFTO.

For the record, Not Everybody's Gold has been my favorite SH album since I first heard it. The first album I heard was Mimi's Magic Moment, not long after it came out. I then worked backward through their catalog.

Like there would be a consensus on which were the "best 10 or 15". Perhaps someone should set up a website where people can vote on them using a star system and then argue about it.

The original "You might be a redneck if..." list now spans what, 5 or 6 books?

The best part is that this list was obviously written by 'prog holes' with a sense of humor, otherwise many of these wouldn't be spot on!

How long do you think it will be before someone starts using "proghole" as their user name on this site?

Obviously, I meant the best 10 or 15 as judged by the author.

I haven't scanned the list to find out whether you are a proghole if the initials SH cause you massive amounts of confusion, because you know dozens of prog musicians with those initials, including at least four Steves.

Is there anything more Prog™ than arguing about a list?

I think I can add one to the list:

No Prog band can be refered to as "A respected Prog band" if they do not have at least ONE song completely in 7/8.
