This was recorded and released in 1970. Maybe you mean the debut by Caravan?

Yes, but isn't 1970 still technically the 60s?

Not techncially, no; but culturally, often, yes.

Many, myself included like to think of a decade as 11 years with a nice tidy 0 at each end, with each end year also starting the next decade, thus:
    1960-1970
    1970-1980

    rather than
    1960-69
    1970-79

For some reason I had that Caravan album as 69 in my database, I'll switch it with Neil Young - Everyone Knows This Is Nowhere

The amazing thing about these lists is that the Beatles are not on any of them but mine. I can't believe some of the albums you people think are better than Sgt. Pepper. And very, very little Yes. Well, we're only on page one.

Subjectively I'd agree with you, but for my personal tastes, while I like the Beatles, it's not stuff I reach for very regularly at all.

I think most people are discussing their favorite albums not stating what's "better". And I also think that people with broader tastes will find more to like than Yes and The Beatles. My 60s was filled with jazz. Yes could have made my 70s list, but I have heard a few thousand recordings in that period and it's impossible to say what's my favorite.

So don't take it as a slight. What makes this forum interesting is the diversity of tastes - which I find refreshing. How boring it would be if we all put Yes, Genesis, and Beatles.

No, I don't take it as a slight, I'm just saying it's amuzing. It was funny to see "We're Only in it for the Money" instead of Sgt. Pepper.

They're MY top 5, my fav 5 per decade. Not an objective BEST 5 per decade, that would be a very boring and obvious thread that would soon turn 1969 into a battlefield between King Crimosn and Led Zeppelin fans

I've not really heard enough Beatles to even consider them for these kinds of things. I wasn't exposed to them at all as a kid in the 90s and I'm simply not that interested in them now. I have a lot if their stuff and I do plan on listening, but I wouldn't call it a priority.

That's because Money is one of my favorite albums of all time. I tried to sit through Pepper once ... just couldn't do it. Not for me, sorry.

PS - Sorry for the multiple posting! I was viewing on a phone and it got out of hand.

I see. I guess I forgot about the age differences here. It reminds of a time I met a teenager about ten years ago who couldn't name the four Beatles. I was utterly shocked.

Oh, I can name the four Beatles and could even tell you their core catalog. As I said, I own it and have every intention of listening to it soon. As for my own personal musical development, we didn't have any Beatles in the house, so Tull were my Beatles!

Understandably. I consider the '60s to be the best decade for jazz and the '70s to be the best decade for rock.

As for my list, I'm too tired and grouchy to strain my brain that much. Maybe after a few more cups of joe...
