    Quadrophenia gets the 5:1 treatment!

But you'll have to buy the upcoming 'Quadraphenia Live in London' 5 disc box set to get it!

If it's the FULL album, I'm in! Otherwise, pass.

It's so sad, but I was in my local record store yesterday, and some clueless clerk had filed the Who's Quadrophenia under 'Q'.

    Yes, it's the full album!!!

I too passed on the box set due to only selected songs mixed in 5:1 so this new box set is a no brainer!!!

How about if Pete hands the original tapes to Steven Wilson instead of his goddamn tin-eared ex-brother-in-law? I'll pay a premium for that remaster.

Zonks, that's a steep price when all I want is the 5.1 bluray. Need to find somebody who just wants all the other stuff to go in half Oh well, probably will still get it.

I still need a definitive version of this.... but this is not going to be it..

Though the DVd looks interesting, if it was a 74 tour...
Is this the recent tour, though???

VERY good question. If it wasn't 74, it could be very painful to watch and listen to.

There has never been a 5.1 version of the Album. A 5.1 of Tommy, yes. I'm not convinced there is a 5.1 remix here.

Their is indeed a blu-ray 5:1 mix of the original album in this box set. Dunno who mixed it though?

In June this year The Who will release Quadrophenia Live In London a 2013 concert of their 1973 album performed in its entirety (along with some greatest hits). The release will be available on DVD and Blu-ray (both with 5.1 audio) as well as a two-CD version.

Of interest to Who fans and collectors will be a special 5-disc deluxe metal box set version of Quadrophenia Live In London which gathers all the formats together (Blu-ray, DVD and 2CD) and (wait for it…) adds a hi-res 5.1 Surround Sound blu-ray audio disc of the entire 1973 studio album. This is the very first timethis has been released – the 2011 Director’s Cut box set only offered a small selection of Quadrophenia tracks in 5.1. Extras in this new box include a six-inch Mod Headlight sticker, a Mod Headlight button, and a booklet with liner notes and photos, all housed in a 10-inch metal container embossed with the movie-inspired, iconic, Mod bullseye logo painted on a Vespa SG scooter headlight.

The good news is that if you don’t want all that paraphernalia, the 1973 studio version of Quadrophenia in 5.1 (via blu-ray audio) is also available separately.

Quadrophenia Live in London (in all formats) and the Quadrophenia 1973 studio album 5.1 blu-ray audio are released on 9 June 2014. Virtually no UK pre-orders at the moment.

^^^^ Thats great news, so there is a seperate blu-ray 5:1 release as there was for the Tommy release. Thought I was going to have to splash out £90 for it!

Ha, nice, so I will get it after all

An interesting read re: Quadrophenia's subject
    http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/201...es-went-to-war

It kind of puts some perspective back in the fold next to Townsend reminiscence of the era...

According to The Who's FaceBook page this :http://www.amazon.com/Quadrophenia-L...s=Quadrophenia
is supposed to be listed as the BluRay 5.1 audio only mix of the studio album.
I was going to purchase it on www.acousticsounds.com because they have it listed correctly. I had it in the shopping cart and was about to order it at 29.99 until I discovered they wanted an additional 10.00 to ship it via First Class Mail. Uh....no way. My company fulfills lots of stuff that is about the same size and weight as a BluRay case and disc. We charge 4.98 and still have customers claiming this is a rip off.
Maybe Amazon will correct the listing by June 9th.

The Blu-ray 5:1 mix of the original album dosn't seem to be advertised?

Amazon only have Blu-ray concert film listed.

Apparently you didn't study the Amazon site completely:

    The full box:
    http://www.amazon.com/Quadrophenia-L...o+quadrophenia

The bluray pure audio of the original in 5.1 (is also included in the box)
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...g=thesecdis-20

The link to the blu ray pure audio is given here:

    http://theseconddisc.com/2014/04/17/...riginal-album/

The key is the album cover and the blu ray pure audio label.

Correct, those links don't say where the single disc Blu-ray of the original album can be bought!

The Bluray pure audio disc is the original remixed to 5.1 even though it's titled as if it's part of the "live in London" release. The Bluray video release with 5.1 soundtrack has a different cover which is not the original album cover. Note the last link I provided that in the box set list there is the amazon link next to the 5.1 original pure audio disk list. Pure audio is Bluray audio only and the live stuff is only released on Bluray with the video (or DVD), or audio only CD.
