    Alan Parsons Project Live

They're playing the local casino next weekend. Anyone care to chime in with a yea or nay as to whether it'd be worth seeing them or not I'd appreciate it. It's only $40 so its not like I'd be out a lot of cash, but I'd hate to go and feel like I'd just seen a glorified bar band.

I've never seen them live, but on another music forum I know someone said a recent Alan Parsons project performance they attended how was a big disappointment. I'd probably go along, just on the off-chance they might play "To One In Paradise", but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they played nothing older than the Eye In the Sky album - especially considering the venue if I may say so.

I loved their first two albums, but by the time of Eye In the Sky they were sounding formulaic IMO, and their later albums even more so.

If you're a fan - even a casual fan - I say go. For $40, how bad could it be?

I saw them years ago and really enjoyed it.

I think it's worth noting that this is not The Alan Parson's Project Live, it is The Alan Parson's Live Project. And it is a distinction because none of the "Project" members are playing with him.

I've been toying with going or not going, maybe if I feel like it on the day of the show, and tickets are still available.

Saw them open for YES, (either 98' or 00' ?) and enjoyed it, not sure if they are the same lineup by now..

I was thinking of seeing them on the 4th, but my interest has waned. It might be interesting but I'd be surprised if it was exciting. I'm thinking it will be replicating the recordings rather than sparking with a live feel.

I have seen Alan Parsons live 3 times, although it has been a while and not the current band. The first time I saw them was on the very first tour in a big outdoor ampatheater. I am not sure what I was expecting, but to be honest I was somewhat disappointed. The music was all good, but I think the venue was just too big for what they did. The 2nd time I saw them was in a 1500 seat theater. They had a killer light show and the more intimate environment worked a lot better. I LOVED this show and it still ranks right up there with one of the better concerts I have ever attended. The 3rd time I saw them was in the same theater a few years later. They had a much more low budget production with a much scaled back light show. It was good, but not as good as the time I saw them before. Each time I have seen them the band has gotten smaller too. The first show had several lead vocalists and a big band. The last time was down to one lead vocalist and a smaller band. I guess the bottom line is, they are not an act I would necessarily travel for, but if they came within an hour of me I would definitely go see them again.

Saw them tonight (just got back) and it was definitely worth $40usd. The place was packed (1200 person capacity) and the band was in good form. I'm glad went.
