Well, here we are then, someone I've never heard of. And just a week after some rude comments in the Peaches Geldof thread, so I'm now going to repeat the harsh comment that Bungalow Bill wrote in that thread, like I said I would:

"Should I know who he is? And why should I care?"

R.I.P. From this side of the world, I think he's one of those singer/songwriters where we have heard the name, and would probably recognise some of this songs if we heard them, but would not connect the two. Some songwriters are like that - they may do conerts in their own right and put out albums, but never really achieve fame beyond being known as a songwriter. P.F.Sloan is another example - also to a lesser extent Jimmy Webb.

Ahhhhh, Peter. Never a pot but you'll piss in it.

I've seen 'Brand New Tennessee Waltz' on a few people's albums, but that's the extent of my knowledge of his work. Nevertheless, RIP.

Of course Jimmy Webb has a song *called* 'PF Sloan'...which could be about under-appreciated songwriters in general but is specifically about Sloan there.

    It's nearly a laugh but it's really a cry.
