    Recent Family CD's

Has anyone heard the Snapper remasters that were brought out over the last few years?

interested in any thoughts on the sound quality.

Are you talking about the band FAMILY? I recently bought a 2 disc anthology called "Strange Band". I'm not sure if it's on the Snapper label. I had never heard their music before, though I've read about them for years as they are always refered to when John Wetton's history is talked about and I've also read a that Genesis were influenced by them.

I like them. I can see why some people (or many?) don't like Roger Chapman's voice. I think he's a pretty damn good singer. He sounds like a cross between Marty Balin and Rod Stewart on some songs. Their musical scope is all over the map. One song, "Burning Bridges" sounds a bit like Genesis in "Twilight Alehouse" mode. Interestingly, this came out in '73 when Genesis were well established. Family has often popped up in Genesis interviews as an early influence. I can certainly believe Gabriel was influenced vocally by Chapman.
