What is Bill Connors' solo material like? Fusion?

I've never owned any Al Dimeola albums until just a couple of weeks ago I got Splendido Hotel on CD for $5.99. There are a couple more for that price I might pick up. Some of Splendido seems cheesy somehow (after one spin), but there are a few interesting tracks as well.

Bill's solomaterial differs a lot, from ECM'ish sologuitar & jazz quartet with Garbarek , to Holdsworth-like trio (Step IT, Double Up, Assembler). I dont know the last one 'Return'.

Lenny's Summer is going to be the obvious choice here (great album too)

OK, you got my Lenny, here are the others
For Chick: if I wanted to cheat, I'd say the first RTF, but I'll go for Spanish Heart
    Stan: s/t
    ADM: Midnight Sun
Connors:I only know Gaurdian >> always meant to investigate others
    Farrell : Outback
Airto: Free (but I'm not really remembering is other early albums)
    Flora: none... dislike her singing.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

I think I have one of Bill Connors' ECM albums, sort of mellow stuff compared to what I expected. Haven't listened to it in ages though.

The only thing I've heard from his 80's era stuff was actually a Soundpage that was included in Guitar Player's Eric Clapton special issue in 85, I think it was. They asked Connors to do a tribute to Clapton, so he did something that was described as "Variations on Layla". It was a pretty cool track, but I don't think it was ever released any place else.

Will listen later after the Sox game.

Coincidentally, I picked up Stanley Clarke - The Complete 1970s Epic Albums Collection recently. All of the albums are very good. The live disc is awesome as well.

"Return" is more straight ahead, but with a Latin tinge. Great album, though.

The Holdsworth period is fun...especially like Tom Kennedy's playing on those albums. Bill's earlier acoustic ECM stuff is very atmospheric....

I like Lenny's albums-Big City, Venusian Summer, even his last one, Anomaly...

Chick's done so much, it's impossible to say what's my favorite. And Stanley's first three (not counting Children of Forever, which I dig a lot) -the "brown album," "Journey to Love," and "School Days," plus the live one, are classics, and I like the Toys of Men, and the stuff he's done with Hiromi.

I like Elegant Gypsy, and Land of the Midnight Sun. Casino's pretty great. Splendido has some clunkers.

Farrell's Outback and Canned Funk are classic. I love Flora's first few solo albums. Ditto, Airto's.
