You don't need to smoke a kipper, a kipper IS a smoked Herring. Unsmoked it is simply a Herring.

Check out the web page for the Robin2 in Bilston. http://www.therobin.co.uk/

Very close to Birmingham. I saw The Watch there last year when I was in town for business.

Looks like Oliver Wakeman & Gordon Giltrap on 4/6, Riverside on 4/7, Curved Air on 4/13

The Robin's a great venue - very cosy and right on the tram line from central Birmingham. Very handy indeed!
What if the Hokey Cokey really IS what it's all about?

been to the Robin...saw the Zombies there while on vacation. Didn't know that they still had trams in Birmingham, I remember the last one in the 50's.

Can't recommend concerts, as I don't know of any, but as a guy what has been to the UK more times than I can remember, I can recommend places, like Scotland, for a start. Get thee up to the west highlands for a couple of days, you'll be glad you did. The southwest of England is also idyllic, though perhaps best enjoyed in summer.

Well, if you're in Birmingham & you're a choc lover then Cadbury World is an absolute must!

Thanks everyone for the good tips. Three Friends sounds like a winner, but my cousin will probably barf at the notion (he's more of a Def Leppard type fan). OK, off I go!!

    I agree!

You must know Harborne of course, I've an Irish aunt and a cousin living there. Awful place!

I know London somewhat and I know the "west country" even better but I couldn't tell you much about Birmingham. I would advise you to shop at Tesco if you need groceries. Best value in England for my money. But if you are going to London, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and the British Museum are an absolute must. Another place I really like in the southwest is Weston-Super-Mare. Kind of the Asbury Park of England. Attractions of all kinds all along the beach. Stonehenge is not far from there but I've never had a chance to see it.

    I lived in Weston-Super-Mare also.

    Not such a hole.
However don't expect to get any swimming in. The tide is usually out in the daytime.

My cousin calls it Weston Super MUD because of the muddy beaches. Not too popular judging by the people I talked to. Great trip BTW!
