    Anekdoten - Gravity

Can't believe this album is 10 years old this year. It's by far my favorite release of this outstanding band that have the bad habit of waiting far too long in between releases. The latest one is - what, 7 years old?

The only real problem I have with "Gravity" is - safe for the title-track, the first three songs are the strongest. Favorite line: 'The metaphors are lost on me'

Anyway, here's my favorite track on the album:

I adore this album and it's always been tough to decide between this one and Vemod as to which is my favourite Anekdoten album. Cool cover art as well. I'd have to agree about Ricochet as it's my favourite too with War Is Over right there as well.

My favorite Anekdoten album too. I clicked with it from the first time I played it. It was as if I found an old friend lost for a long time.

This is where I jumped off the Anekdoten bandwagon. This one just didn't have the twists and turns that I enjoy from the earlier albums, and the songwriting and playing just weren't up my alley (though like the OP I vaguely recall liking the first few tracks best). I ditched this ages ago, and haven't really paid much attention to the band since that time. I still like the first two a lot, though, and like much of From Within. I enjoyed their set at NF 2000 as well.

Nucleus is probably the one for me. I generally grab for it the most. Lots of great moments on that one.

I agree that this is the best track off of Gravity, and that Nucleus was their finest release altogether. I never liked the overtly KC-wannabe babysteps of Vemod, but I thought A Time of Day (their latest) was quite good.

Can't pick a favorite album, but the last instrumental on this album is awesome. Love that Fripp-like guitar sound!

This album and From Within are by far my favorites. Vemod is too - hm, muddy? Unclear in direction? I'm not sure how to describe the feeling it gives me. Not as focused, songwriting not as sublime and tight? But that's just me. Even so, I like that better than the best output of a lot of other bands. I will bless whatever comes my way from them. They really could play the phone book and I'd be happy.

My least fave of them.... No cello explains this partially, but I found this one as "noisy" as Nucleus, but it doesn't have a 1/5 of the latter's inspiration. So "noisy" for Nucleus is good, but for Granity, it's definitely not.

It's been on my outgoing pile for while ... so far Gravity is the only Anekdoten album heading out the door...

"From Within" remains my favourite, with "Hole" as my all-time favourite Anekdoten song (followed by "Harvest" and [esp. the 1st half of] "Book Of Hours").
